liquor for clergy and musicians

liquor for clergy and musicians

We are below our count, so the vendors are eating the same as everyone.
What do I do about the liquor?
It does not seem crazy to me that the clergy member(who is staying for dinner) or a band member would have a drink or two. But how should I handle this with the hall.
Am I way off base here?

Are you paying separately per person for liquor ?

yes....that's where I am getting confused.
Plus only 2 out of 5 band members want drinks.
And I have one other vendor who I should not drink since he will be doing the fire.

i dont think any of your vendors should be consuming alcohol, i personally wouldnt pay for them to drink, only non-alcoholic beverages.

I agree - NONE of your vendors should be drinking at all.

I'd pay for the clergy to drink. Priests can get down too.

no vendors should be drinking, including band members. They are working. If you are at work, you should not be drinking! I don't think most RH will give drinks to vendors at all, that's one reason why vendor meals are usually less expensive.

my gut, would be to do liquor for all across the board..you never know and chances are more than likely all will have at least one drink of alcohol..

I would pay for the clergy member - there is nothing wrong with him having a drink at dinner. You are inviting him to the wedding - he is no longer WORKING at this point(he's done his job by then so you are really inviting him as a courtesy!)

No one else should be consuming any alcohol whatsoever. I don't get to drink at work - why should they?! :)

I had open bar so this wasn't even a thought as far as $$. But, I know my brother got the photo's asst a beer cause he was running/working his asss off and I know for a fact our bagpipers had a couple of beers during cocktail hour. I didn't care at all, they weren't getting drunk, just having a couple of drinks. This didn't/doesn't bother me in the least. My thinking is, they're adults, I know based upon reputation that they are responsible vendors, a drink or two will not affect their performance and I want everyone to have a nice time and be happy, even if they're working. I would feel the same if I were paying drink for drink as well, again, a drink or two for a couple of people, in the grand scheme of how much you're spending is not going to make or break a budget.

most reception halls will NOT serve your vendors, very likely because of insurance reasons.

For any vendor to WALK into my RH - they had to have a certain amount on insurance & i would think that if they got hurt & had any amount at all of alcohol in them - the policy would be void & who's at fault? The RH who served them....

The priest - I do, upon further thought, have to agree. His work is DONE for the evening once he has done your ceremony.

I honestly have an issue with the fact that your band people even said they'd want to drink. Like someone else said - is it okay for you to drink at work? This is a JOB for them...

I almost had to force food down my vendors' throats, let alone have them drink...
