HI! FH and i had originally agreed to have a pre-made signature drink at our engagement party for those who want to drink liquor and kegs for the beer drinkers.
This past weekend, when we were supposed to buy the amount of liquor and mixers that we needed, and seeing how much one drink would cost, we started toying with the idea of having a full bar.
so my question to you all is, what kind of liquor is needed for the party, and what mixers? I am not a liquor drinker, so besides the normal drinks, im clueless.
So far i have: Bottles: Grey Goose Bacardi Gin Scotch Tequila Stoli- (flavored)
Mixers: orange juice pineapple cranberry pink lemonade club soda tonic coke
Thanks so much!

Re: liquor question
For my e-party, we had a keg and bunch of wine, for hard alcohol we had Absolut, Jaeger, Jack, Captain, Mailbu and Jose. No one is a huge hard liquor drinker, so we bought what was appropriate for our crowd. It worked out perfectly.

Hey Lis! I think you got pretty much everything!! But maybe just add Captain and ginger ale? Just a thought....Not sure if thats a huge popular drink with everone, ya know? But otherwise, looks good!

Re: liquor question
I would just add a diet soda mixer. Seems lots of people like having diet soda these days with liquor.

Re: liquor question
my e-party was this weekend and it was a champagne brunch. We only served Champagne, Mimosa, Bloody Marys and red/white wine and beer (obviously non-alcholic drinks too)
Everyone was perfectly happy with this and it turned out great, but you really need to know your crowd and it depends obviously on the type of day.
Honestly, I like the idea of serving your signature drink and then maybe beer and wine, just to cover all your bases.

Re: liquor question
You should get Malibu Rum. It goes great with pineapple juice and cranberry juice or all together for a Malibu bay breeze!

Re: liquor question- UPDATE please help!
thanks guys!
ok so one more question:
if you attended a house engagement party (starting at 3pm) would you be pi$$ed if there was a signature drink (stoli strasberi/pink lemonade) and kegs of beer (we can add wine if you think we should have it, no biggie) as opposed to a full bar???
let me know your honest oppinions!!
thanks!!!

Re: liquor question- UPDATE!! Please Help
I would not expect a full bar at 3pm so I would be very happy with beer, wine and a sig. drink.

I wouldn't be annoyed but I wonder how many people will want a signature drink. I think if you have the signature drink you need to do wine with the beer. I just know a lot of my in laws would not drink a fruity drink like that. Look at your crowd and gauge it from there. At our e-party we just had beer and wine and it was fine.

i would be shocked if i saw a full bar at 3pm at a house e-party. I think sig drink + beer + wine is perfect! Everyone will be able to find something to drink. If you felt inclinded you can have 2 different sig drinks to give a little variety.

I'm going through the same thing! Our eparty @ my parents backyard starts at 5pm late August. I was thinking 2 signature drinks (his & hers), wine, keg, non-alcoholic beverages. But FH wants a full open bar. He said he can get a discount on the liquor cuz his friend (who isn't invited to the party) works in the liquor business. I told him lets find out the price for the both and compare!

For an engagement party, I think that's fine if you also add in some choices of red and white wine. I despise beer, and I'm not a fan at all of sweet alcohol drink - I think there are quite a few others who feel the same way as me. As long as you add wine to the list (nothing expensive!) I think you're set!
