LIRR Service Suspended

LIRR Service Suspended

LIRR Service is suspended out of Penn - ALL trains out of Penn. It's not online yet (not sure why), but I was just there. It's a nightmare, so I went back to work.

Pedestrian accident in Forest Hills. It's frustrating that there are no trains (and probably none for a while), but it's sad to think someone may be seriously hurt or dead, too.

If you're commuting home tonight from NYC, you might want to find another way...

Ugg, my husband is stuck on the train now. They killed the power on the third rail so there are 2-3 trains stuck on the track and they are being told it could be anywhere from another 1-2 hours to clean up the accident before they can restore power.
This does not sound good for the pedestrian...

Oh no. I wonder what happened. I am about to go get FH in Queens at the subway station because there are no other options to get back to LI.

OMG! On the news they just said a child was struck and killed. That's horrible. My heart stopped when I heard it. My heart pours out to the family.

MTA Long Island Rail Road
Service Alert
Friday, January 5, 2007 7:30 PM

At approximately 7:15 PM, very limited eastbound service has been restored out of Penn Station, with residual delays of up to two hours. Service still remains suspended westbound into Penn Station.

Two additional trains are being held at this time. The 5:29 PM from Hunterspoint Avenue, scheduled to arrive in Ronkonkoma at 6:45 PM and the 5:32 PM train from Penn Station, scheduled to arrive in Far Rockaway at 6:24 PM.

As a result, we are currently experiencing upwards of 30-minute delays on the Port Washington Branch.

Just talked to my DH who is on a 7:39 train from Penn to Babylon that he says is moving... I guess they are starting to restore service?

Re: LIRR Service Suspended

I was PISSED before. I drive home from huntington/melville via pinelawn wellwood ave adn i was stuck in 1hour of traffic. Got to about Green St. then it wouldn't move.. it had taken me 30 mins just go go from green st. to the rr tracks. There were two trucks stuck on the right line one just kinda on the rr tracks. They gates were down and the traffic light after the tracts was stuck. The trains past but went VERY SLOW.

NO ONE told us anything as we sat there. Only MTA showed up to direct traffic and no PO. I WAS FUMMMING! We got past the tracks finally and then were stuck at a light that never changed. No one wanted to run it. and after five minutes i drove around in the wrong lane and flew past people. UPS truck behind me did it too. STUPID ***** was sitting htere holding up traffic because she was scared to disobey the traffice light.

STILL no one had said anything what happened. You would of though police would of been there, the traffic people would of announced but no.

Grrrr
