Little dilemma

My MOH birthday is at the end of the month. I am very close with her and she is my 1st cousin. She tells me that she wants to go to the v. expensive restaurant. Its going to be at least $200 a couple. I am having a hard time parting with this kind of $ for dinner when I am trying to save for a wedding. I want to say no but then I will hear 'you never have any money'.

What would you do?

If you really can't afford it right now, I would say that is going to be too much for me right now with the wedding. Can I meet you after dinner for a drink(s)?

I would go. Think about how much money she's spending for your wedding. I would want to do this special thing with her for her birthday.

I agree with Sunny. If she is your MOH and first cousin and you are close with her, I am sure she is going out of her way for your wedding and spending money for you. I am sure she wants you there and I think if I were her, if you didn't go it would be kind of a slap in the face after all she is doing for you. Just my opinion though.

maybe you could show up for part of it.. like appetizers or dessert... then you wouldnt have to spend as much

Definitely think you have to go.

But $200/couple? What restaurant is this? Even at the most expensive restaurants in NY, you can eat for less if you dont drink. Are you assuming you will be drinking a lot of wine too?

How about going but calling ahead to see if bring your own wine (tell them its an important vintage as oppossed to a way to save $$ ) so you only pay a corkage fee instead of the restaurants wine costs. That will save you a lot.
