How many blocks away are you? How much traffic...visitor cars/parking regulations exist??

Re: Living near a....
Hmmmmmmm....good question(s).
I don't think I would mind a park too much. The hospital probably not, and HS maybe no to that as well.
But if you love a house and it has great potential....I would consider eveything.
Good Luck!

Hospital? Wouldnt do it. Sirens at all hours of the night. Garbage disposals with rats that probably stink...
High School? Would rather not. You'll have the kids walking all over your lawn, get some hulligan ones that may knock stuff down, students parking their car in front of your house if there is no on campus parking, then the same garbage pits that bring rats and stink with them.
Park? Depends on how close. Again you have the kid factor (but less in regards to misbehavior) but depending upon the park you may have parking issues if its is park that has a baseball diamond, etc. What if a kid breaks his leg running to the park on your sidewalk, yadda yadda yadda.
Then again, I'm always the pessimist.

Hospital, I wouldnt want! too much comotion, with the sirens and if its a hospital like Stony Brook, the helicopters etc.
HS, I grew up 2 blocks from an elemetry school and 2 blocks and an elemetary school from the JHS (the elementary and JHS were back to back) Based on my experience I wouldnt want to be too close to the HS. Being close the to ementary school I always knew when there was an event there based on all the cars parked along our streets. I want to be close to an elementary school so that I can walk my kids to school however when it comes to HS you have all the personnel and hte students with cars. It can lead to a lot of congestion. Plus we all know that a lot of HS kids are not the safest of drivers and I wouldnt want to be too close!
A Park, I dont think I would mind, I cant see much negative except if kids hang out in the park at night making noise, drinking. But I would want to be a block or 2 away. Not looking out my front door at the jungle gym.
I also grew up 4 blocks from the train station. It was a great convience growing up. But depending on the size of the station I wouldnt want to live closer than I did becuase the blocks closer, have commuters who park in front of their house.
