Living next to a sump???

So, one advantage is that we'd be on a dead end street and it's quiter and the kids could play in the area without worrying as much about traffic.
How about negatives?
Anyone live next to one now? Any problems?

there is a huge sump behind FH's bakcyard... you cant even tell it is there because htey have huge trees up blocking it... they love having it there because it is more privacy and one less neighbor to have to worry about...

I grew up around the block from one. I think you may have a higher incidence of raccoons and maybe mice. Also kids like to get in there to go sleigh riding in the winter and maybe hanging out. Other then that it should be a quiet area!

The best part about living on a dead end is that the ice cream truck drives by twice!!!

Find out if it is a dry sump or a working sump. Behind our house is a dry sump (hasn't been used in at least 20 years according to the sellers, who were my friends), so you don't even know it's there. It's nice, b/c nobody can build behind us. If, however, it's a working sump it can smell when it's hot in the summer and there can be a lot more bugs than usual.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone, but we lost the house to someone who was willing to waive the engineers report and we were not.

Then it wasn't meant to be.
