Ok, I just saw an old post about this topic. FH and I are paying for our wedding mostly ourselves. We want to stay on L.I. but cannot afford a house on our own and don't want to dump money into an apt. We plan to get a mother-daughter house with my parents. Has anyone else does this? Is it a bad idea? It seems like the best financial move for both us and for my family. Otherwise, I don't know what we would do. Sometimes I wonder how we are really going to afford this wedding and what I was thinking!

It could be great if you both have seperate areas. A friend of our family has a mother daughter with seperate kitchens and bath and all so it works out b.c they arent in each others space.
We rent an apt upstairs from my parents adn its great. We pay rent, but not what we would pay elsewhere and its a seperte apt so I dotn have to share- haha.
