Lloyd Neck, LI-Sorry a little long-Thank you!

Hi girls, I am a MOG who is very close with my DIL who was a LIWedding 2007 bride. She asked if I would join with her.

Anyway I have a wedding to attend at a home out on Lloyd Neck, LI. I have never been there and I am sure it is a pretty town. On the invitation it said to check the website for more info (which is normal). So I go on the website and it says there is no parking facilities at the venue (home)....do any of you know if this is true and the reason why?
The wedding is on the last day of the golf tournament...would that have anything to do with it? Also they state to park your car or take the LIRR to Huntington and then call a cab or car service and pay for it ourselves.

I find the fact that they are not providing a shuttle service for their guests a little strange. They didn't even block out rooms for their out of town guests at a hotel. Now being the MOG twice and having a niece who got married in Florida I know the proper thing to do is block out rooms and provide a shuttle which my niece and sons did.

Your thoughts please.

Lloyd Neck is a very small town. I imagine there's no parking facilities because it is a private home. I don't know if the golf tourny has anything to do with it, likely it wouldn't unless the wedding was at the golf course. As far as the cab, it could be super close and the fare wouldn't be much, but I do think a shuttle service would be a better idea.

Thank you very much. On their website they gave phone numbers for two cab services...one said the price would be $60. one way plus gratuity and the cab would be $24. for the first person then $3.00 for each additional person plus gratuity.

I'm surprised that they aren't offering a shuttle service. Lloyd Neck is an upper class town on the north shore. It's beautiful. The houses and the property are quite large (I believe it has a .5 acre minimum lot requirement).

It could be that due to the US Open they weren't able to block hotel rooms (most hotels in the area are booked solid that weekend). I am puzzled by it. I am also confused as to why they didn't make arrangements with a cab company to provide shuttles between the LIRR station and the house.....

Lloyd Neck is very small....I know in a neighboring town of Ashroken, the town does not allow street parking, this could be the case with Lloyd Neck. Since the town is so small, there really is no place to park the car. However, I do agree it is a little inconsiderate to tell me to take a cab or car service.

Thanks for your replies girls....I do appreciate it and now I can understand why there is no parking. And glad we all agree that not providing a shuttle service is inconsiderate because I thought I was being anal.

Thanks again,

Hello, As stated by other posters, Lloyd's Neck is a very exclusive town on the North Shore of LI. There is no street parking allowed, and I am assuming since it's a wedding, there will be way too many cars to park on their property. I have a house in a neighboring beach town, and the same rules are there. Also, there are no hotels on Lloyds Neck( there might be a B&B, but i'm not sure). It would have been nice if they provided a shuttle service....maybe they didn't think of it?

Thank you Jennifer. From I heard the house is beautiful (belongs to Bunny Hoest) and if it were anyone else then my husband's cousin I would be thrilled because then it would be planned properly. This is a man in his 40's who is marrying a girl in her late 20's early 30's so you would think they would have the sense to provide a shuttle service especially since all of their guest, including his parents will have to travel there. That is one of the major things on just about everyone' s to do list.. I'm just not understanding how they can be so rude to their family and friends.

Thanks again,
Liz
