I work in the West village (w13 between 8th and 9th) there are other locations in East NY, East 9th street and Around jay st in brooklyn.
for all MWS/ LMSW you will have a case load of ~25 clients.. case management, coordination of care between outside providers, 1:1 with teh clients weekly or bi weekly. also running 3 clinical groups per week(45 min) groups can be on ANYTHING... substance use, empourment, health, CBT treatments, strengths... anything that is clinical that can help our clients.
also Housing works practices Harm Reduction... if you are not ok with those practices, it may be a difficult place to work in.
i just graduated May 2008 and i applied april 08 and was hired a week after i graduated.
i love my job. i have 26 clients (and i kno that sounds liek A LOT.. but its not... bc those clients that want to be there.. they will show up!) i run 3 groups weekly focusing on substance use/ abuse... where on average ~15 clients attend.
at all locations there is a medical department (doctors, nurses, nutritionists) and 5 min train ride away a full dental clinic for clients and staff.
i have been living out in LI for a few months now.. adn the commute is ~1 hour... i get on the 715 train and i am in the office by 8:35.

nice. 26 doesn't sound like a lot to me, I am a case manager now and have 26 on my caseload. I don't particularly want to leave my job when I graduate, they said they want to find me a position once im done that compensates me for my new degree. But we will see if that happens. If not I will def check in with you to see if your still hiring. The harm reduction technique is actually one I totally agree with. Thanks for all the info!!
