loan

Would anyone or has anyone taken out a small loan for the wedding? I want to book places but, afraid we don't have enough to do all deposits for right now.

This may not be the answer you are looking to hear, but I wouldn't suggest taking out a loan to pay for wedding. I think a longer engagement would be smarter. You and your FH would then have time to decide how you will manage your finances and save as much as possible.

A great resource is the book 'Smart Couples Finish Rich' by David Bach. It's a simple read with lots of great information and really good money saving tips!

HTH! Good luck!

I wouldnt reccomend taking out a loan for the wedding. You don't want to start your life together in debt already stressing about money.
The number one reason couples fight is money issues.

A longer engagement might be the way to go. Or scale down your plans a bit.

Just have a big yard sale and fund it that way. Who cares if you have no furniature in your house for two years???

I really don't recommend taking out a loan...whatever you are paying for, you'll end up paying close to twice what it really costs bc of interest...so instead of paying RH X amount of dollars, youll have to end up paying more with the interest you owe...plus you don't want to start off your marriage in debt

i wouldnt suggest it, but if you cant do it then i would try Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union. They have very good rates.

Ive heard people takling loans and then soon as the wedding was over they took all their gifts and paid the loan off ASAP

I wouldnt recommend taking a loan out either. Its only one day of your life and it shouldnt require you take a loan out. Save that for the house where you get some $$ back. HTH

You can have a great wedding on a budget and if you need advice there are plenty of us girls that know how to get a bargin.. (some are professional bargain hunters)

I have to agree with the majority here...extend the engagement or sell all your funiture...LOL

My sister always told me never to charge or borrow for anything you wouldn't still have by the time it is paid off...i.e...gas, vacation...etc...I think a wedding might fall into that catagory. I always found it to be good advice...just thought I'd share...

Re: loan

I recommend saving for the first 6 months then book with only 6 months to spare. Ill tell you why!!! You will have back up money and you wont have to stress about the big payments. Another reason is because the closer you book the hall toyour date, the least expensive iit gets, I saved 25$ a head just by booking that way, plus I got things thrown in!!! 25$ a head time 135 people is ALOT of money. Good luck

OH and another option, you can get a way with a nice BBQ engagement party and you can make some money to help pay for the wedding!!!

I agree, you should definetely wait a while before booking. It's fine to look ahead of time but if you have to put yourself into debt for the wedding, not worth it IMO.

I'd also recommend having the wedding in more of the off season. You'll find much better prices that way. Plus you won't have to worry about your vendors being booked.

DO NOT GET A LOAN, if you have make your engagement longer. You do not want to be in debt after you are married

Re: loan

the deposits for holding a date aren't that high, you may want to first check out the places you like and gauge if a loan is even necessary, you may find their payment plan won't force you into that.
