Local-ish Honeymoon Idea

Local-ish Honeymoon Idea

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for local (drivable) honeymoon ideas for next summer. 5 nights, looking to go no further then NC or NH. I am not sure we will be able to take a long caribbean HM with FH vacation time. Beach destination is preferred, but anywhere romantic is great. Thanks for the help!

Martha's Vineyard or the Poconos.

A friend of mine did Montauk for a few days. They said it was very nice and relaxing.

I like the Martha's Vineyard idea. What about Newport RI or Ocean City MD?

The poconos or Niagara Falls?

Marthas Vineyard sounds great. We have never been there, Newport is beautiful but I travel there on business. Also looking into the Outer Banks, NC. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! :)

Cape Cod for sure!! I would take a day trip to Martha's Vineyard...but dunno if I would stay there the whole time.

Has anyone been to Block Island?

greenport? there is a great place called Cliffside where you can rent the condo for the week/weekend. about 20 minutes from all the wineries and it's on the beach (north shore)

i go there every summer with a bunch of friends.

they also have a pool onsight, barbeque pits, etc.

very relaxing, and close to nightlife in greenport if you want that as well as all the wineries.

Cape Cod, MA or Providence, RI. They both book up quickly in the summer!

IF the amount of days your FH has for vaca is the only thing holding you back from taking a Caribbean vaca you shouldn't let it. There are many places just a short flight away and a 5-6day/4-5night trip is a good amount of time for a getaway. Of course the long vacas are best but if that was the only thing holding you back, you shouldn't. Sometime 'locals' vacas will end up costing you just as much as if you took a plane to another state/country.

My DH's schedule wasn't conducive to leaving right after our wedding for a long time so we went to the DR for 4 days. Our longer honeymoon is over Christmas in St Lucia!

Thank you girls. You are absolutely right. I have been researching all day since I am on a short trip to my parents in FL, and I have found the small resorts & B&Bs on the East Coast are close per night to other places in the caribbean. So confused, but red wine is helping. :)

I know you mentioned driving distance, but I figured I'd throw this out there just in case :)

South Portland, Maine is just a short 45 minute flight from JFK and JetBlue flies straight there (with lots of great deals all the time...like $49). It's a nifty town with tons of great restaurants, right by the seaside. There are beautiful hotels right by the water and B&B's all over the place. Anyhow, just something to think about. Good luck with the searching - the wine definitely helps!

Thank you so much! We went to Acadia 2 summers ago and spent a few nights in Portland, before Bar Harbor. LOVE MAINE. Looking for something we have both never been to. Top contender right now is MArtha's Vineyard or Outer Banks, NC.

I love Maine too!! Your top two choices sound pretty incredible as well. I'd love for us to get to Martha's Vineyard someday. I've heard such wonderful things! Just thinking about it makes me want to go right now, lol. Good luck again!
