Location, Location, Location

Hi, I am totally new at this (chat rooms and bridal stuff). I have been engaged for almost a year and a half and a combination of various dramas and crazy hours at work have made it difficult to plan our wedding. This past weekend I went up to LI(where my folks still live - I live and work in DC) and saw 10 sites in 28 hours. It was nuts, but I am soooo excited because I think I may have found our site. I am planning on sending in our committment deposit tomorrow. I may kick myself ofr asking but I thought I would register and see if anyone has anything good (or bad) to say about the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling. I just fell in love with it and we got a great deal because we are going to do it in April (yup, only 5 months away!). I would love to hear your thoughts (and I am sure I will need lots of advice if I am going to pull this off!).

oh and congrats and welcome to the boards EVERYONE here is SOOOO helpful and great you won't have any problems with getting ideas or anything else you might need

I'm having my wedding there next summer. I have only heard good things about the place. It's owned by Lovin' Oven caterer, which has a great reputation for food and service at all of thier locations.

Yeah! Another vanderbilt Mansion bride. We were married in Oct and planned our wedding in 3 months...so its totally possible!

I was a BM at the Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling this past October. The place is great, If my sister didn't just get married there a month ago, I would have loved to book the place! She had about 145 people, it was perfect!

Yeah! Thank you so much you giuys for responding so positively about the Vanderbilt. We are so excited! We are sending in the check today! And now I am off and running. Invites next, then wedding gown. I cannot believe CarrieAnn did this all in 3 months! You are my idol!
I only have 5 and i feel a million years behind.
CarrieAnn, please let me know if there is anything I should definitely do (or not do) at the Vanderbilt. No detail is too small! We are planning on 100-110 people.

I'm a Vanderbilt bride too. I'm getting married in June. So far I've heard good things about the food and service. I'm going for my tasting this Sunday, so hopefully all goes well.
