Location of OBGYN question...

Location of OBGYN question...

After all the wonderful recommendations of Dr. Bervine, I wanted to call for an appointment for a preconception visit in December. I know the practice is located in Bethpage and we will be TTC next summer. I will be moving back to Lynbrook in February. I looked up the estimated time and it says 16 minutes from Lynbrook to Bethpage. I work in the city so I would have to leave early anyway for any night appointments. For all the BTDT mommies..does the distance to your OBGYN really need to be close to your house? I know towards the end you have to go at least once a week and I don't want the distance to become an issue. I am not thrilled with Mercy Hospital or South Nassau and I want to pick a great doctor that is affiliated with Winthrop.

Doesn't matter as long as it's not a huge distance IMO. Lynbrook to Bethpage sounds close enough to me. When I had my son I lived in Queens and my OB was in Garden City. I got to stop at Roosevelt Field or Fortunoff every week after my visit

BTW, I had Luke at Winthrop so if you have any Q's, send me a FM

Dawnie

My OB/GYN is in Garden City near Roosevelt Field and he is associated with Winthrop. That is where I will be having my baby.

I used to be much closer to Garden City and when I moved, I thought about switching doctors, but I was very comfortable with my doc and liked him a lot, so I stayed with him. We are now about 30 minutes away. It wouldn't be too bad but traffic sucks all the time!

FM me if you are interested in my docs information. Good Luck.

Dr. Bervine and Dr. George delivered Damien and we live in Shoreham which is an hour away and it was no problem!! They are wonderful at that practice

Re: Location of OBGYN question...

I currently travel from Smithtown to Garden City for my Ob/Gyn, a trip that (without traffic) is about 30-40 minutes.

My doctor is worth EVERY mile I drive. I think your comfort level with your doctor and hospital is FAR more important than how far you need to travel.

Choose someone you love!

ETA ~ Trish, it sounds like our doctors practice right near each other, because my doc. is also a few minutes away from Roosevelt Field.

I drive almost 30 minutes to my midwife and I don't mind it much at all. I would rather drive to someone I like than chose a doctor that is close that I don't.
