Location Question - Merrick Rd.

Location Question - Merrick Rd.

Interested in a house that is behind a busy road (Merrick) and that is behind an Auto Body shop.
Can anyone think of anything negative/hazardous about a house in this location?

You really can't hear the noise from Merrick...however...FH feels it may be a potential health threat due to the chemicals, etc.

I would say that you are probably going to get the smelss from the body shop on a windy or breezy day....and all the chemicals wouldnt be that good to breathe in...Also you may want to think about the overspray from paint at the body shop....especially ...if the shop doesnt have a painting booth........

If none of this concerns you.....and the noise from the shop doesnt bother you, oh and the noise from Merrick road doesnt bother you, which you say you cannot hear...then I would do it...but if it was Danielle and I we would probably pass...especially since we want to have kids. We would be afraid of the hazardous fumes that would be coming from the body shop

I would be concerned...Just like Scott said, you might get some nasty smells from the auto body shop...You also need to remember that if you ever decide to put this house back on the market, will it sell with the auto body shop there??? You might also get a lot of noise from the shop especially on summer days when all the doors of the shop are open...

we looked into it...the body shop...
they only spray inside and have a special filter/vent from the roof top that takes care of it.
the EPA did tests and the levels checked out okay.
We went back again today...still kinda liked it.
Only heard oen or two trucks..nothing crazy.

The front yard is so quiet - the area is so welcoming and I LOVE this area.

It's gonna be hard to turn away from this one b/c I absolutely love it.

Its an updated starter...however I know that I love this area so much I'd definitely want to stay in this section forever! This may be the way to get in & build up equity.

I think b/ cthe school district is so awesome (blue ribbon) that it will re-sell if needed.

hmmmm.......

Yeah but I bet a lot of people would be concerned with the body shop and the noise of merrick road when you goto sell it in the future. If it was me, I would pass on it. This is a big step, and I wouldnt want to jump into something that isnt exactly what Danielle and I want

It would bother me, what happens down the road they sell the business, you have no idea what is going to go where this business is. Something to think about............

most likely the house is less money then maybe a few blocks away for this reason? Is it also near a train station b/c those houses in merrick then to be less also but you have to consider if noise/smells will bother you or not, also if it is very close to a busy road, there are accidents as well that you will see and hear
