Locked door spinoff: Do you always answer the door?

Locked door spinoff: Do you always answer the door?

I have to admit, I'm very guilty of pretending I'm not home. Especially if I'm alone.

I will peek first, If I don't know who it is I will not answer it.

Not always. I also don't always answer the phone either.

Sometimes I just don't feel like visiting or talking to people besides DH.

I too do the little peek, if I don't know who it is I will not answer it, especially if I am home alone!

However, there are times I would LOVE not to answer the door, even for family, but I do anyway !

I don't always answer the door. Recently there are a lot of Jehova's Witnesses wandering the building, and I never answer the door for them, even if it is obvious I am home.

In my old apartment, there were men ringing the doorbell claiming to be from Con Ed, needing to get inside the apartments. Some fool let them in, and they went to EVERY SINGLE apartment trying to get in. The next day, I spoke to my neighbors and they said no one had called Con Ed. It was creepy as hell- when they came to my door, I told them to go away. Then I moved the sofa in front of the door.

No one has knocked at my door yet. I think a lot will depend on whether or not I am not in PJs and have decent looking hair.

No one random has come to our door yet, but I don't even like being the one to answer for the pizza delivery guy.

Before living with DH I did occasionally pretend to not be home if it was someone random...

I'm a totally different situation...

I almost never answer the door. Even when I'm expecting someone, they know to yell out their name before they even ring the bell

I don't want to get into it, but I've had bad 'close call' experiences

I hate answering the door. I am not a phone person either. My job is talking on the phone so that is the last thing I want to do.

I was screening last night and my MIL called TWICE! and I didn't pick it up because DH wasn't home

I get nervous to answer the door when Im not expecting someone and FH isn't home.

I usually yell...'who is it'
and the response has always been from a familiar voice....so I dont really know what I would do if it was someone I didnt actually know....I guess I would just tell them that 'now is not a good time...please come back_____'

I did yesterday and really wish I hadn't. It was someone campaigning for Daniel Gifford, who is running for mayor. I politely stopped her and said, 'Thank you, but we're voting for Bloomberg.' She got really visibly ANGRY.

Hello?!?! That's why you have to campaign! If you didn't think anyone was voting for Bloomberg, it would be a big waste of time, no?

ETS: I totally went off topic there. Anyway, I am in a building so it's rare that my actual doorbell rings without a warning. However, if my buzzer goes off and I'm neither expecting anyone nor is there a UPS or Fed Ex truck outside, I don't bother to answer it.

I usually peek. I never just open the door. If it's someone I dont know and I'm not expecting a delivery I don't open it. If I don't feel well and I don't wantto open it. I just won't open it at all.

I do it too!! I peek through the side window first to see who it is.

No one ever visits me. Not an issue.

This is why I've told DH that his dad and mom HAVE to call before they stop by. It's not that I don't want them it's more like I will not go to the door unless I am expecting someone.

His Dad thought I was just avoiding him because that's what DH's ex-wife used to do, pretend she wasn't home. Meanwhile her car was in the driveway. I had to explain to him that I can't really peak out because it's REALLY obvious so even if they are around the corner can they just call.

I never open the door for solicitors.
