log in/password

log in/password

I posted this on the NW site to get Liweddings attention, and bumped it...but no response. Tell me what you guys think.

Don't you think it would be great if you had to sign in to this site with a password/login name. Most sites do that. Then people can't just come on and cruise. I mean - I know you can set up a password whoever you are...but I feel like it would be a little more secure anyway!

Any opinions?

It doesn't really bother me much since I know I am posting on a very public board, but I can understand your feelings. I don't think it is a bad idea at all.

how would new poeple ever get to the site to decide that they want to join?

you'd be able to just see some of the site. like wedding channel does...but not be able to access everything.

UW is like that too - I think it's a good idea, but I wonder if LIW would agree? I sometimes think twice about posting specific comments knowing how public this board is.....

I like the idea, but I don't know how much more privacy you'd get. Anyone could sign up for a name and password and sign on and lurk. If you look at the Ultimate Wedding member list, there are hundreds, if not thousands of people who have member names, but have never posted. I wish LIW had a link to see not only how many people are online, but who is online. UW has that feature, and I really like it.

This is all under consideration. Thank you for your input.

thanks li! I know that it doesn't make a HUGE difference, but I know that I only register on a site if I am serious about taking part in the community, using the vendors suggested, etc. It might just lend a little exclusivity to this site without discouraging new 'real' brides to be since they are all used to having to register on all the other sites anyway!
