logo help?

Does anyone know how I would go about making a simple logo? I'm not sure what program everyone uses???

OR is anyone good with making logos that would help me out with a black/white 'Nicole & Shep' logo for the cover of our ceremony programs? Something formal and scripty and elegant would be great!!!!
