Lombardi's on the Sound

Lombardi's on the Sound

I'm not hearing much about this place but we visited it and loved it. However, a friend complained about the service at a recent wedding.
Does anybody have the scoop on this place?

The food is always great at any one of the Lombardis. I have heard things about the service as well. I want to check out this place for my own wedding and could not stand the saleswoman. Plus, they messed up my appointment twice, so it kind of just turned me off. - JMO

I went to a wedding there over the summer last year so keep that in mind.

Service was great, place is beautiful, CH is to die for, dinner eh it was good.........however. Everyone placed their order for dinner, we went to order the prime rib and were told that they didnt have any~why it was on the menu THEY provided then I dont know. So instead we both ordered the New York Strip (it was whatever the other steak choice was) we get our food and they gave DH the chicken, when he told them he didnt order the chicken they took it away and then brought it back saying they were out of it THIS did not go over well at all since it was originally what he ordered. DH is not a fan of chicken. So he didnt eat.

Otherwise everything was wonderful.

I'm getting married there in 6 weeks! I absolutley love it. The only snag I have run into durring all the planning has been that they have changed my BM twice. Aside from that, there have been no problems. The food is fantastic, the view is even more fantastic. There is a bridal showcase on 9/11...maybe you want to check it out.

there were several Fall 2007 brides that got married there. Scan the review board...pretty sure they posted reviews.

I am getting married there in 7 days!

I had similar concerns about the service and actually the food. It's hard to say since I have never been to a wedding there, but if they tell my guests they ran out of any of my 7 entrees I am going to be livid. That is just unacceptable.

I will give you a review in about 3 weeks. They were hard to deal with in the beginning but they have gotten better. However, they are sticklers for the rules and have many of them.

I will keep you posted but until then I think 040508bride got married there and posted her review. She said the food was amazing.

I was looking there and had major reservations about service based on phone calls and rudeness. I checked with friends from work who had been there recently for a wedding and they confirmed what I felt, very cold, and pretty much exuding the understanding that they don't need you and your money, someone else will pay it.

Food absolutely amazing due to the lombardi recipes!

Re: Lombardi's on the Sound

This was our second choice RH. We had concerns because of the distance (over 40 minutes away for me) and our guests from OOT and in Nassau County. I also thought that the ballroom is very pretty but that you can't really see the water too well from there. I was also worried how it would look if it rained...another concern we had was that they didn't do any tastings...you had to go to their restaurant and pay (over $100) for dinner. We did book it because the BM was really nice and he kept throwing things in for us (extra stations, menus, ice sculpture, etc) and then cancelled it and then they kept $100 of our money...we were turned off and glad we cancelled our date.
The food at the restaurant was good but not fabulous in our opinion...JMHO or I should say in a foodie's opinion lol.

Re: Lombardi's on the Sound

Lombardi's on the Sound can be a little sketchy in terms of manners. I haven't personally seen the ballrooms, but I have been there for the brunch in the restaurant, so I can attest to that being gorgeous.

I was going to have an appointment, but the woman on the phone was so rude to me the 3 times I had to call for various reasons, that eventually I just cancelled the appointment. A similar experience happened to FH's cousin, who is also getting married next year.

I just found there was a MAJOR difference in the way I was treated between the two places. Villa's was nothing but accomodating to me, both on phone and in person. Even though they both initially wouldn't tell me date availability over the phone (one of the many rules they have I suppose), the way it was handled at Villa's was may more courteous and professional.

Clearly I didn't hold a grudge!

I have to agree with that. Villas staff was nicer and I felt more confident in their service. I too loved Land's End but felt they were just way out of our price range. (175pp++) so for us, this was a nice option. I haven't really dealt with the nasty woman ( I know who she is) and I am lucky. They were definitely unwilling to throw stuff in or negotiate, but in all fairness they had everything included that I really needed. It just worked for us. It's ultimately your choice do what you feel most comfortable with. :)
