Haven't been to a local beach in many years--FH had a serious sunburn last time I took him, so we've been boycotting Which is better to go to--Long Beach or Jones Beach? Just looking to relax without too many kids or posers. Thanks!

I like Jones Beach cause it's closer. But My best friend sister lived in Long beach. She over looked the boardwalk and ocean... It was so nice. U walked out her door onto the boardwalk. Parking is not so great there and u have to pay 5.00 per person to get onto the beach. U also have to pay an arm and a leg to park at jones so....

ALways went to Jones Beach. Went to Long Beach, will never go back to Jones. Even if you paid me, well it depends on how much
ETA: If you go really early in the morning you dont have to pay to get onto the beach which we found out as a fluke (sp)

long beach is a better beach imo, but more expensive since you pay per person. there is also no parking at all, but if you manage to find a spot, its free. jones beach is cheaper, easy parking (but paid) & more people on the holiday weekend. there will be a zillion kids & teenagers regardless of the beach. its long island, after all!

I love Jones Beach--we dont bother w/ Field 4, 5, and 6 --way too crowded--we go to the West End--so much more nicer and quieter!

Personally I prefer Lido Beach. But if you want to walk the boardwalk, LB is great. But parking is a pain. I normally park a few blocks away or take the train and walk to the beach.

DH lived in LB when we met and we almost bought a condo on ht eBoardwalk back in 1998. We love to ride our bikes on the boardwalk too.

i love long beach. different sections of the beach catore to different ages or activities. i always go to the street by hoffman manor becuase its the surfign beach so its quite with very little children or families around.
