Ladies Im looking for a nice restaurant in Long Beach to have my RD. I'm getting married at the Allegria but would like to consider other options for our RD.
I know and love Monterey but they have been really difficult just to even get on the phone. However, I love that type of vibe and am looking for something like that in the area. A lot of the places seem very casual - i want something a bit more special.
Looking forward to your recommendations. TIA

Im from LB - Monterey's is good but the food isnt that fabby. Long Beach is hard to find a place that is not somewhat casual (since it is a beach town).
Lola's is really good. I believe they have a party room as well.
George Martin's GrillFire is also very good. http://www.georgemartingroup.com/index.php?s=ndlbtop&p=photos
Jimmy Hayes is also very good. HTH

There is a matteo's in the West end of LongBeach on West Beech Street, and they do small parties there. Food is excellent!

Wasnt good when me & 8 other people were there. Since i live in LB thats pretty much what everyone says.
Matteos is very good yes but since chris left & opened Mio Posto in Oceanside, its not the same hospitality wise. Food is still good though. Mio is really great! But O'side. Butthey have a party room too.

Isn't Sutton Place in LB? I remember going there one Valentine's Day and thinking it might be a nice place for a rehearsal dinner.

I am having my rehearal at Sutton Place. They had the upstais, so you can really make it like a private party. Also, Grillfire and John Henry's are great.

Yes plus Sutton has a nice tented area too if you would like. But when you walk in its kind of a bar feel. Not sure if she is into that.

Sutton Place has a great room that you can get, that is where I think we are having ours. It is between there and Monterey.
Beach House is great, but there isn't a 'private room' so if people had to go to the bathroom, they would be walking through your party area.
Minnesotas also has a side room that they will section off, and the food there is really good. However, if you move the party into the west end, it may be hard to get parking and you may not want to have your guests driving around looking. Same goes for having it at saloon, or cabana. However, if you don't care about that I would reccomend Speakeasy. We do alot of private parties there, and the food is eclectic and excellent!
Matteo's is good, and they also have a side room. Although it is in the west end, it is on NY ave so you may have a better time finding parking.
Swingbelly's has great food, but I'm sure you don't want your rehearsal dinner served in baskets on paper plates. Total BBQ spot.
Fishermans catch in Point Lookout is pretty good as well and on the water. They also have a separate room.
If you are going to maybe go up more towards oceanside and you don't mind doing that, then I totally reccoment *** Posto (sp?) or Jimmy Hayes.
