Long Distance Bridesmaids

Long Distance Bridesmaids

Anyone else dealing with this? Atleast my MOH lives in Queens, but she travels a lot for work. All my other bridesmaids live far away and I know they won't be able to make it to a lot of things (bridal shower, bachelorette party). But they are my closest friends so I do want them in my bridal party. It just sucks not having anyone nearby! Even my parents live in NH so I really have no one nearby. FH's parents live in CT so my MIL and SIL aren't near enough to help with much. I'm relying on my MOH and my cousin who lives in NYC to hopefully help with some random things (esp. dress shopping!). I may have to make my cousin a bridesmaid as well (but that would make it uneven and she's a busy nurse, so I'll see how much she can help). Anyone else doing a lot of this solo, sans help from bridesmaids and family?

I'm not from LI, so I have done everything on my own and when I need help I get it from FH. It hasn't been too bad but I've had a pity party once or twice bc I would have liked to share in this experience at least with my mom.

My MOH lives out of states, better yet out of the country along with one of my other bridesmaids. It is a bit frustrating.

You are not alone!! I don't live on LI. In fact, I live in a different state than my bridesmaids, my family, and FH. Sometimes I feel like I am stranded on an island... but I know everyone will drop anything in a heartbeat for me if I needed help or an ear to b*tch and moan to. lol.

I am doing it all pretty much solo. I have recruited the help of a wedding planner to deal with vendors for me since I'm not on LI.

I'm the long distance one - all 3 BMs are on LI and I'm in the Bronx. They've been great so far, though only one has offered to help craft things and another is kind of my count-on-for-everything-else girl. The 3rd girl....well, she's a big fan of herself but I love her lol. It's not been bad yet, but I plan on definitely getting some help with bigger things as time goes on. By then I can have them stay for a girls night/DIY party when we get a house

BOTH of my moh's live out of state, but I have tried to make a timeline for them to condense trips. (maybe do shower and bach party on the same weekend?)

its hard because I wanted them to be there for trying on dresses but i dont expect them to drop everything for me. My sister is still in college in DC and my best friend is a nurse in boston working nights.

Two of my bridesmaid don't live here. I totally know how you feel!!! If it makes you feel any better my parents are here and I'm doing everything by myself or with my fh. I ask my mom to come she's too busy (shes retired) and then I book things and she gets mad or doesn't like the way I do it. Oh well. I doubt I will have a shower or bachelorette party so I don' thave to worry about them not coming.

My MOH is my sister and she lives in England and she hasn't done anything. I didn't really expect a lot from her because she was so far away. My two best friends have filled in for her and my mom is planning my shower. She can't come to the shower, either. She is basically showing up to the wedding, that's it. I have accepted it and moved on and luckily, my friends are amazing and making everything really special. :)

I have 1 bm in FL and my MOH is out of the state as well. I don't expect them to travel to my bridal shower or bachelorette. It sucks b/c my MOH is my sister. I have accepted it. So far I have been on my own. I'm sure if I ask the other girls to step in they would. There was some drama with the shower and bachelorette party so hopefully it sill happens. I feel your pain though. Hang in there

my MOH lives out of state and so far she has made everything and planned everything. I have no complaints I appreciate everything she has done. I feel very lucky.

I live in Rochester - so planning the wedding from up here is difficult in itself. However, my bridesmaids live in: Buffalo, Albany, Rochester, the Bronx, Long Island, and Seattle. Mom and sister (MOH) are coordinating the shower on LI and I'll think we'll do the bachelorette party up here.

For me, it's not a big deal if they can't be there for everything. If they're there for you when you need to stress and help you when they can they're doing a great job.

I live in Los Angeles and my whole family is out in New York. I am trying to plan all this from 3,000 miles away and told everyone back home that if they give me a hard time, i will elope and there will be no wedding!!!! Its hard having to share pics and e-mails. I went to try on my wedding dress last weekend ALONE and ended up crying in my car because my mom and my best friend weren't there.
