Wow, England definitely wins for long distance!! It hasn't been that bad so far, Im just worried about the month or so before the big day. Im sure you all probably already know, but I didnt know until a vendor told me that you shouldn't be charged nys sales tax on certain things. Like photography, if you get proofs sent to ur out of state address you can save a lot on tax:) Martea36, are you from boston originally? I just moved here in August from LI :)

Im trying to plan my NY wedding from DC and it is so hard. I am a teacher so I am lucky because I can go back over school breaks and get everything done.

I'm trying to plan my NY wedding from MD and I agree, it is so hard! I'm a teacher as well, so I am so thankful for our school breaks!

I am planning this whole thing from Seattle Well, I admit is very hard and annoying sometimes. You have to search, search and more search just to get an idea and call them, back and forth...arghhh...some vendors are very hard to get and then I am suspicous if they dont get back to me in a day or two..that means they may not be reliable since seeing them in person is impossible for me before the wedding... oh well...things will workout somehow. especially with the help of these amazing women on this board

Planning from DC!
I feel like vendors have given me way more info over the phone since I can't hop in and meet with them. I honestly feel like I might be less stressed than if I were up here running around all the time! This way, I so things on one Saturday every 6 weeks or so...and a few things from DC in between

I moved Here about six years ago for school. Met Fh and he moved here so we stayed. It's been very easy to plan from here. I'll let you know what its like a month before the wedding

Totally agree, if you tell vendors that you are planning from out of town, they are much more willing to price things over the phone or email!

ITA! I planned my wedding from Ohio, and I think it helped to put what could have been a stressful situation 13 hours away from me . Vendors were excellent on the phone. The only vendor that was a little difficult to figure out long distance was hair/makeup (since I wanted a trial). It's definitely doable, and vendors on here are more than willing to work with you!

Re: Long distance planning...
Planning from a distance can be super frustrating at times so I understand. I'm planning from Greenland but luckily enough I know I'll be moving to New Jersey shortly and will be a lot closer.
Do your homework online and over the phone and then when you go home make appointments with vendors that are worth your time, and you won't feel as behind or frustrated.
