I'm new at this LIRR commuting thing. Can someone please tell me if the 10-trip ticket is good during peak hours? Do you have to use it during the span of one week?

Re: Long Island Railroad Question
I don't know how the 10-trip thing works, but my DH commutes to the city every day and buys a monthly ticket. His company also gives him pre-tax transit checks, so he uses those for the subway. Then his LIRR ticket and his MetroCard are both the same (one on either side)....
Happy commuting!!

Re: Long Island Railroad Question
there is the monthky tckt...good for the entire month as much as you want to ride.
The weekly...good for 7 days riding
the 10 trip...is good for 10 trips anytime. I think you have a year to use the trips!!
Hope that helps!

Re: Long Island Railroad Question
If you use your 10-trip during peak hours, you would pay the difference in the fares to the conductor (step-up fare) but you won't have to pay the on-train purchase penalty since you have a ticket already.

Re: Long Island Railroad Question
I was trying to save money on the commuting cost since I can sometimes catch a ride with hubby into Queens.
So there is a step-up fare during peak hours? Bummer! I guess then I have to do monthly?
Tammy yes I moved It's official as of yesterday.

Christine is right, the 10 trip's are subject to the step up peak fares
