Re: Long Island then.. and Now
Cool! My mom often talks about going to My Father's Place back in the day...
Ok, I feel totally out of the loop. Does Roosevelt Raceway still have flea markets? (Eew, I'm so Suffolk right now...)
And Malibu shut down? When? I went there in the early 90s.
I feel like I'm 100 years old right now.

Bethpage Farmer's Market ------------- Waldbaum's
THIS PLACE WAS SOOOOOOO AWESOME!! I was so sad when it had a fire and they teared it down. My mom used to take my there every friday and we would go on the merry go round-the big decision was whether or not to ride in a booth or a horse! HAHA those were the days!
COOL list--thanks for posting!

Honestly, there was no place like OBI. I loved that place.
I remember being so sad when Jolly Roger closed. We had a field trip there when I was in kindergarden!
I remember May's too- I grew up not far from there. Jann's was great also- my folks went there a lot when they were dating. They always talked about the 'kitchen sink'.
Roosevelt Raceway is another place that reminds me of when I was a kid. My grandma loved that place. The mall/superstore culture has totally taken over!

I used to work at the OBI I used to hand out passes at the front door and I also did coat check occasionally.
I was a regular at Malibu and Chevy's back in the day.. OMG I'm old!

I used to LOVE Nunley's!
BTW, Roosevelt Raceway has been leveled for a few years now. They are building it up with mega stores and possibly some housing.

Nunleys was the best. I remember being afraid of the roller coaster when I was little....and I loved their miniature golf.
Does anyone Remember A&S in Greenacres, and Korvettes in Massapequa?
Roosevelt Raceway ----------- Stores, stores & more stores....Isnt this still an empty lot??? I didnt think they built anything there yet. The last I heard was they were going to build a hotel or something there.
So did they actually knock down the building that Malibu was in or is the building still there?
All the clubs from when I was younger are gone...Sprats on the water, Sprats on Land, Caffiene, Chevys, Malibu, Industries.....So sad

OBI -----------------------------A Big Empty Lot!
this is a sin!! what a waste of beach!!
This is the proposal for what they want to do with it... OBI Plans Click on the pic to enlarge it. I thought it was pretty wild (and will probably never happen), found it by accident on the LIBBA website.

Roosevelt Raceway is still there, however some of it is gone.. Chilli's, Lowes multiplex, etc..took over.
Malibu is still there, the building that is.. the club has been shut down for, I would say, a good 8 years or more... Very Sad
Sprats is still there, it's called Bridgeview now, Sprats on Land is now Mirage, Caffiene is nothing, Chevy's - I lived there practically is now a parking lot for the Bob Store, Industry is just a vacant club growing weeds in the parking lot...

OMG YES!!! 2 of my uncles worked there. Actually my aunt and uncle met working there! They have now been married for 15 years! I remember going to visit them. My one uncle used to staple the bags when you went from FoodTown into TSS! He had to wear this hysterical bell-man uniform We used to ABUSE him.
