Long story....but what would you do?

Long story....but what would you do?

Ok, my father is the middle son of 3....he is very close with his younger brother. My uncle's wife is actually singing at the Church for our wedding and their daughter is a reader.

Their older brother has always been a tad on the bizarre side, but something that we all tolerated since he is family. Anyways, a few years back he did something fairly awful to my father and we pretty much have not spoken to him since.

I made the decision not to invite him to the wedding, because he has a temper and I basically could not trust him and my dad to keep things cool- I kept envisioning a fist fight breaking out on the dance floor. My dad said it was up to me, and my mom agreed with me.

Anyways, a few months back I had signed up for an ancestry.com account because although I have a fairly complete family geneology, FH really knows nothing about his family- so we were going to work on this together after the wedding.

Anyways.....my uncle found me on there and sent me a message. Not sure what to do at this point- do I even respond? Or just ignore it? He actually sent it a few months ago....I just didn't see it until today.

Sorry for the long story- but I don't want to get back in touch with him and a. make things not good with my dad (who I have a wonderful relationship with), b. make him feel bad that I am getting married and he didn't know, and c. cause a general family issue

What would you do?

i would completely ignore it

I strongly believe in the drama free policy

I do not associate with anyone who has the potential to cause any amount of stress or drama in my life

I wouldn't answer. No need for any drama, especially with your dad. I'm sure if he really wanted to contact your family, he would have contacted your dad first.

Leave it be...

I agree... he thinks you've ignored it up until this point and hasn't sent a follow up email, so just forget about it.
