Long Vent- I'm a bad MOH
So my girlfriends shower is 9/13, she's getting married 10/12. There's been drama with the shower since May, when I tried organizing it for any Sat or Sun this past July. Between the MIL and brides mother, and the one weekend in July I couldn't do it, everyone had 'something to do.' With the impending strike my company recently has/had, I was unable to make any plans this month- including weekends. The shower is close to the wedding, but do-able.
As much as I would love to right now, I'm not going to bad mouth the MIL or brides mother. To give one example so you will know what I'm talking about in a second- My girlfriend and her FH are both working 4 jobs to pay for mostly all the wedding (both work for a popular telephone company and get a good salary). The mother wanted to pay for the Shower at Georgio's. I know my friend, and she's not a 'go crazy on the shower' type. I also spoke to my friends FH and MIL about if they'd prefer a more monetary gift at the wedding or a big shower. Everyone was in agreement that a more monetary gift would be better.
So I have a frantic & pretty rude message when I come home tonight, from my friend's FSIL about needing to get the invitations out, please return this call, as if I never call them back. This is the 1st message I had from them since we got together 2 weeks ago to work out shower details (initiated by myself). I call and get the MIL. I was a little irritated and questioned what the fuss was all about re the message. WELL- LET'S START GOING OFF ON FINALLY16 HERE...
According to my friends FMIL- we should have had the shower the way her mother wanted but I '*****ed' about it. And I wanted it to be my way . She bets that my invitations will come out perfect I wanted to be in control of everything but I do absolutely nothing.
Apparently they had left 3 messages for me last Thursday, 5:30pm, 8:30pm and 9pm. My FH got home late from a day of drink & golf, and there were like 10 messages. He heard the ones he wanted to hear, and went to bed. I had stayed in the city for work last Wed and Thurs and did not get home until Fri night. My answering machine has like 50 old messages, and to hear those messages my friends FMIL &FSIL left, I would've had to go through all the messages. I never go through the messages. My caller ID only holds 20 old callers, and their name wasn't there.
Tomorrow night my friends FSIL is coming over and we'll bang out the invitations. The MIL said she didn't have the registry inserts and had to look for the addresses of all the people she invited. She said she was having company tomorrow night and is leaving for TX on Friday and the invites needed to be out last week. The bride’s mother bought the invitations and dropped them off to her. Again, everyone has something to do.
I'm just beside myself.
