LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY- MY UNITY CANDLE!
I'm so excited: I just received my unity candle from Celtic Candle
I went with the Irish Wedding Blessing to add some of my heritage in. (because we didn't have enough going on with our Jewish/Christian ceremony!
After reading a LIWer's review of them, I jumped online and ordered it right away. The problem is, I may have jumped the gun a bit b/c I'm not getting married until April. I'm hoping it doesn't melt this summer-- haha
Oh well, I guess i can pop it in the fridge if it gets above 95 degrees- haha.
Here are some pics. Let me know what you think or if you know of any other Irish traditions I can incorporate in...

Not an irish tradition, but a friend got married about a year ago and the favors she gave away were crystal/glass? bottle stoppers that had a shamrock - they were made by mikasa.
They were really nice, no idea of cost but I thought it was a great favor.

i love it!! if i were doing a unity candle i would like to do something irish also! to tie in my heritage!

i looove it. i totally wish i was having a more Irish type wedding but i'm marrying into a very Italian family. I know they'd be upset if it were too much. SOO I hired a band that specializes in Irish pub music!!! but i also made sure that they could play the Tarantella and some Dean Martin and other 'mob hits'
Again... LOVE your candle. You could have one of the Irish blessings in your programs or said at the church or something.
Since I'm getting married in March I hope to have some clovers in my BoK

it's beautiful! I love the candle holder too!
I'm also trying to incoporate some of my irish heritage into our wedding. Clovers in the bo-ks and the Irish blessing sung during our ceremony.
But I'm also marrying into an Italian family so I don't want it to be overkill, trying to keep it subtle

I was thinking of having them recite the blessing when we light the candle or something and Iike the program idea too- thanks!
See, My FH is Jewish and when I told my FMIL about the unity candle- she was like 'OH- whats that'. Duh- we were all just at his cousins wedding and her husband was Catholic and THEY had one- I'm like- werent you there. I just don't want all of the Jewish traditions to overpower the entire wedding. The singing in hebrew, the wine ceremony, breaking the glass- the dreaded horah (where I fall of the chair). It's all nice, but there are SOSO many traditions that I need some of mine too.
