Looked at wedding bands today.

Looked at wedding bands today.

I went with my FH looking at wedding bands just for fun (we have tons of time). Unfortunately the wedding band I want (eternity band with prong setting) didnt really look good with my e-ring. I am really set on wearing the two rings together. The problem is my e-ring stone is set low so its sticks out a lot and no band fits flush against it. So in other words there is a gap between the two rings. I dont know what to do....just kinda sad about it.

At first I was sad about not having been able to wear them together too, but to be honest, I am now soo excited about my band that I can't wait to wear it!!

I have the same problem.

One thing to do is get a very thin eternity band...one that has very small diamonds that will sit low enough.

The other thing you can do, which may be more costly, is to have one custom made to match your ring. They make them so that they curve with the shape of your ring...

I did try one really small one and that one looked ok. Do the rings have to sit flush together? My e-ring is a solitare with a baguette on each side....so i dont know what else would really go with that.

i have the same problem and it really annoys me! i dont understand why a jeweler would sell a setting that makes it impossible for a band to fit flush against it!
i figured i'd just have to get a new setting (sadly) ... but i'm up for other suggestions :)

They will make a mold (or impression) of your e ring, and make a band to match.

Simple, have one custom made to fit your ering

but what if i want to have the option of wearing it with my e-ring AND alone??

Re: Looked at wedding bands today.

so why couldn't you? A good jeweler can make it so you can.

hmm, ya really think so? i mean, that would be GREAT, but i feel like it would look weird with indents on the side of the band.
dilemmas, dilemmas...

A good jeweler can make a band to match & sit nicely with your e ring. it can be done, i have seen my jewelers work and he does it.
Good Luck

Can you raise your setting so the other ring would sit flat against it

How much more does it cost though to get a custom made band than one already preset?

Try a channel set eternity band. I had the same problem and since the channel bands were lower, they seemed to be more flush with the band.

You should definately look into getting a ring custom made. I'm having mine done at Elsa's (a vendor on this board) and honestly the price was cheaper getting it made than going to a retail store to purchase one and I am getting exactly what I wanted.

Good luck!!! : )

Re: Looked at wedding bands today.

I am having mine custom made at my jeweler in Manhattan, (he sells wholesale), and like someone said, it cost less than if you bought it in a store (stores mark up jewelery 2 - 3 times its cost to them!)

Re: Looked at wedding bands today.

I could get the ring custom made but it just wouldnt work cause the band would then be a wierd shape. My only choices are to either wear e-ring on other hand, dont have the two sit flush together or see if middle stone could be raised....but I really love my ring the way it is and i dont know if you can change a ring like that without getting a whole knew setting. Hmmmmm

Hey Chloegirl!!!

I have a girlfriend who had a substantial solitare, and she had her wedding ring on the same finger, it didn't sit right up against it, but it still looked great. When you tried the bands with your e-ring, what did you think?

My FMIL has a nice size Marquis (sp?) E ring, and she still wears her wedding band on same finger, and it looks good!

Get what you think looks best. I wouldn't go changing around your e-ring if you really love the setting.

Re: Looked at wedding bands today.

Hi Kathy. I will probably end up getting the band I really like and not have the two sit up against eachother. I guess there is no rule that the rings have to sit flush....I think it looked good and the band i tried was a size too big so that might have something to do with why I wasnt crazy about it. I really do love my e-ring, its what i always wanted so dont want to alter it...at least not so soon after i got it.
