Since next yr is a big bday for him.. i wanna throw him a Surprise party!!! We have sooo many people... but i'm hoping i can get away with something small or at least a bit smaller than the wedding..lol. maybe 75-90 ppl. Any suggestions for inexpensive places in brooklyn, queens or Nassau county?? It really doesn't have to be a sit down dinner... it can buffet style.. afternoon. If i can i'd like to try and just rent a hall and have it catered..so recommendations for catering would be much appreciated too!! TIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh..also ...does anyone know if Mr. Met does Bdays during baseball season... ha ha ha Thnx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ooh...also.. i'd like to have a photographer there.. but i do not wanna spend a fortune. Just someone who is good that can get some family shots since we missed a lot at the wedding!! i'd normally just do it myself but i figure i'd be too involved... (can u see i'm bored.. i need to plan something...lmaooo)

Try Caffe on the Green in Whitestone. The food is amazing and they have a nice private room.

Iam throwing my parents a 50th Birthday surprise party in 2 weeks. We are having it at a firehouse. Not sure if you looked into that? Do you know anyone in the fire dept.? But we are having a Hollywood/movie night theme party. Its turning out to be lots of fun planning it. Party city had different themes you could choose from. For photography, you can try calling my Photographer. I know Hal form t and t studios has done sweet 16, Bar mitvahs and such. Iam sure he isnt priced to much. And he is really great to work with. I will give you a link to his site. I looked on his website and seen for sweet 16, communions its $595.00 not sure if its the same for B-days.
Shira Z is amazing for parties! She did our rehearsal dinner and she was fantastic.
We threw my Dad's bday at a VFW and we had it catered by Valley Caterers.

I will post lots of pics after the party.. Its in 2 weeks!! I feel like Iam losing my mind!! LOL.
How about Verdis in Whitestone? Prices are good, food is great! For a buffet, it's probably in the $40-$45/pp range. They have a small room downstairs that holds up to i think 80 ppl and then a larger one upstaris that holds up to 150.

Re: Lookin to plan DH's 40th.. need ideas!
what about Bubby's in brooklyn. I saw AG's blog and there was a wedding held there, very different. Its more of a loft type feel but was real nice.
also heard alot about river cafe and sirico's in brooklyn.
In queens: Caffe on the green like someone else mentioned. Also theres the foundry but would have to do more work bc you have to hire catering and stuff but the place is so different and beautiful. The metropolitan building in LIC, again unique venue and gorgeous and has an outside part. City lights studio. Cavo is also REAL nice and has an outdoor garden section with waterfall, also an inside lounge and a restaurant area. Ammos is also real nice
sounds like a great place... and the pricing is awesome!!! i'm getting excited about planning now...
just have to figure out how i'm paying for it...LMAOO!!!
It's really delicious. It's a Chinese restaurant so I hope you like Chinese food!!!
