Looking at Venues..

Hey Girls

It's almost time! We're planning to look at a few halls at the end of June/July. I'm curious how many can/should you look at in a day?

Any advice from what questions to ask, the do's and don't's, etc is appreciated

You can look at as many as you want - just leave about an hour for each appointment and then map it out so that it works for you. We maxed out at 5 in one day, other days we did 3 or so.

You can probably see about 4 each day. I think thats the most we got in..maybe 5. Depends how quick everything is.

Dont forget to ask-

What the minimum is?/maximum?
DO vendors eat free? 1/2 price?
Price for kids?
How early can you get there to take pics?
What happens if your guests get there early?
What type of liquor? (top shelf?)
Find out prices for different times of the day/days of the week.
Is valet included? (some halls wanted to charge us extra)
What extras can be added on?
What they can throw in for you?

And most important-

NEGOGIATE!!!! Alot of halls will go down in price!!

Good luck!

Re: Looking at Venues..

We averaged 5 per trip, so some days we saw 7, and we always saw at least 3. Definitely mapquest them out first and put them in order of traveling, it will save you a bunch of time and gas money to not have to drive around the entire island.

Another thing we did was put our foot down about places having only one wedding at a time, that really helped narrow down our list although we did not decide that until the very end :/

Also, take lots of pictures while you are there, FH and I did that and it helped a ton. And the folder that they give you: make lots of notes on it. We even had a list of questions that we made sure to ask each banquet manager before leaving :)

HTH!!!

Re: Looking at Venues..

We saw 2 places each Sunday (we ended up seeing 8 places in total). We wanted to see only 2 each week so we wouldn't get sick of looking at places. Make sure to right in a notebook the pros and cons for everything in each place, this is gonna help u narrow them down. Always bring the list of prices of ur favorite places because sometimes place B can give u a better place just because place A gave u a good price. Once u have ..let's say 3 top places, make sure to go for food tasting and meet with the banquet manager again after the food tasting, they will see u're really interested in them so they will most likely improve their prices during this 2nd visit (it happened to me), don't be shy to negotiate anything and everything, beleive me...they want u to book with them so they'll try their best to please u! Ultimately, take a deep breath and make sure to enjoy every single thing u do for ur wedding so u won't make any rushed decisions. I hope this helped u
