Looking for a dress

About how far in advance should I start shopping for a dress?? My wedding day is 9/12/14 and I don't want to start too early because I don't want to change my mind BUT I want to make sure I have enough time to find what I like and get the proper fittings, etc. Also where are some good bridal shops to go when I'm ready to start looking? Thanks everyone :)

I would say about 12/13 months before is the latest you should go if you want to give yourself time to find 'the dress'
I found mine at bridal reflections in massapequa but all the girls on here have great things to say about a lot of other ones too!

I just started a few weeks ago and my wedding is next May. Most salons recommend you order your gown 8-9 months in advance. I wanted to give myself time to shop around and wait for a trunk show to get a discount haha. So far I've had good experiences at Lillette's in Bellmore and Village Bridal in Babylon. My next appointment will be Bridal Reflections.

Looking for a dress

I started this past February and ordered my dress in April for my June 2014 wedding. I wanted to start earlier rather than later so I didn't freak out if it took to me a while to find the one I loved. It's never too early to start looking. It took me 50 dresses to find the one over the span of 2 months so I'm happy I started looking early.
