I recently found out through an HR friend that my position (actually, entire department) will be eliminated probably by the end of the year. My company is looking to outsource what we do. I'm not panicking; DH and I would be alright for a while but I want to be one step ahead of them.
My main experience is analytical: forecasting the sales of my company's products, pricing and demand analyses, monitoring where we are vs. profit goals, etc. I am great with Excel, getting better with Access and I supervise 2 people.
I live in Centereach so I'm shooting for no further west than the county line but for the right opportunity I can be flexible. I'd be happy to forward my resume to someone who wants more info about my experience.
I'll be watching my FM if you prefer to answer there. Thanks so much for any leads.

Re: Looking for a job
Gosh - I'm sorry to hear about the outsourcing. I do not know of any positions but I will FM you if I hear of something.
Have you created a profile on Monster? That would be a good first step.
Good luck!

Re: Looking for a job
Thanks to all for the good wishes and FM. I registered with hotjobs but I will visit monster today. Might as well!
do you think they will give you a severence? if so, you could volunteer to leave if you are close to getting a job...or if you get an offer...someone at DH's company did that...get a little extra bonus?

Re: Looking for a job
Erica, I wish I could do that, but if I approached them they would NEVER give me a package. I expect one only if they initiate my departure.

Re: Looking for a job
Can you find out which company will do the outsourced work and look for a job there?
Jenn...I should tell you that DH's coworker knew that someone else was going to be laid off...and he offered himself instead (he was quitting to backpack through australia) so it worked out for 2 people
