Can anyone suggest a good photographer with reasonable rates? It seems like the going rate is 3500 plus. If I am going to splurge on anything it should be the pictures, I just want to see what prices are out there without having to visit a bunch of studios...Thanks

Hi and welcome! Congrats on your engagement. There are so many great photographers out there, all in different price ranges because we all have different budgets and tastes. I would do a search for 'photographer' and read them through. The most popular ones seem to be Duet in Huntington and Twelfth Night (I'm biased because that's who I'm using) in Mineola. Then there's B rett M atthews, JoVon, Verdi, Something in Blue...so many others! Defintiely do a search and good luck!
We've been using them forever (my family) and Jack is the sweetest man around!

what kind of photos are you looking for... candids, photojournalism, posed?
We are also using patken...On prices it all depends on what you want to get(albums, just proofs, etc.) Your best bet is going to all the studios to check out diff photogs work
We are also using them, they are great to work with so far!

There are lots of photographers out there. I'd suggest booking appointments at as many as you can stand. You get a good basis for comparison and you get to see different styles. Photojournalism seems to be popular (and having had a photojournalist at my wedding, I can see why) but there are some who seem to do the more traditional photos.
We used Twelfth Night and were thrilled. Our pics are gorgeous (and one of these days I will add some pics to my review) and the price was right.

We are using Artie from Artisitc Images. His work is very good. And we really hit it off with him. He has a great personality. We are paying less than $3500.

P.S. We had our E shoot with him and it was a blast and they came out great!

I picked Patken too and I spent much less than 3500...but it does depend on what you want.

we wanted a more personal experience so we went with BTC photography. Prices were reasonable and Bernadette was wonderful..good luck

i'm using glen-mar in roslyn and their work is really beautiful. they did our engagement photo and it came out great. they do both portraits and photojournalistic shots. we are also using them for our video.

We are using Christine from Spelman Studios. Her prices are above your average, but she does an absolute fantastic job. She uses 2 photographers (candids and formal). Her work, staff, and albums are some of the most professional we have seen. Like you said, we saw places that were less, but in our opinion, she was worth the extra money. We liked the fact that we are having the owner of the company taking our photos. We like the fact that her reputation lies in her photographs so she will be taking the best shots she can....not someone just looking to collect a paycheck who takes the same photos every time they go out.

We used Wedding Group One!! They are absolutely amazing!!! I just got my proofs on friday and it took me 2 hours to look through them. I had over 1000 proofs....and I loved every single one of them.
