Looking for a puppy

Looking for a puppy

Hi everyone!

FH and I need to get a puppy in the middle of June. I figured it would be best to start looking now. (We are only waiting cuz we are going away the first week in June and don't want to get a puppy just to abandon it for a week- even though there are plenty of people to puppy-sit)

Does anyone know where we can get a nice english bulldog, boxer, puggle, or pug? Breeders, stores (though usually i don't like stores for pets...), people who just had litters and need to get rid of them?

TIA!

Try North Shore Animal League. . . they have alot of muts, but they will have pure breads too...usually.

If all else, we bought our puppy 2 months be4 our wedding [lol I KNOW, but we fell in love w. him!!!] and we bought him at shake a paw...they have locations in lynbrook & hicksville, but we paid $1300 for him because he's a purebread!

Do not buy from a petstore, those dog are bred under horrible conditions. Besides the cruelty behind it, you don't know if you are getting a purebred.

A shelter is a great way to get a dog/puppy because they desperately need homes. Try petfinder.com.

Also try looking up that specific breeds rescue group like:

boxer rescue (Looong waiting list)
greyhound rescue
etc

dont go to a shop, they are all puppymill pups there. you'd be supporting a terrible illegal industry.

you can look online for breed specific rescue orgs. or go to akc.org for a reputable breeder

Believe it or not you can spend much less for most purebred dogs unless they are rare from a breeder and see where they came from.

Wow, i wish i would have consulted with you all beofre buying a pup.

I will never buy a pup from a pet store again. My fh and i just bought a pup last saturday from a pet shop listed above.

I love my pup, but the next purchase will never be from a pet shop.

Please do your research.

YOU CAN FIND MANY PUREBRED PUPS THROUGH RESCUES AND SHELTERS. MY PURE-BRED TOY POODLE COST ME $175 AND MY PARENTS PURE-BRED CHINESE CRESTED COST THEM $200. PLEASE ALWAYS DO RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING PUPS. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CONSIDER ADOTIONS. BYW - IF YOU GOOGLE SHAKE A PAW - THEY HAVE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS AGAINST THEM BECAUSE THEY SELL SICK ANIMALS. THEY ARE THE WORST STORE YOU CAN BUY FROM!!!!!!!!!!
