The kind of place that is a once in a lifetime trip.
Any Ideas much appreciated!

How about Australia? You could do Lizard Island Resort for pampering yourself in the tropics, Sydney for urban life, and Ayers Rock for hiking/outback/adventure.

I love Australia and New Zealand.. although September it will just be starting to get warm.. it could still be a bit chilly since their summer really starts in late October/November from what I can remember..
Are you looking for an island or another country??

Australia and New Zealand are high on my list.
We're not picky - country, island, whatever...

Then I would say definitely go to either one! They are awesome!! I highly recommend them. If you are going.. you should definitely plan a 3 week honeymoon!
Fiji is also nice BUT there's not much to do there.

We looked at Lizard Island, but it's way too rainy in March - my recollection is that it's really warm all year round - it's just not as warm in other parts of Australia in Sept.

NYCMeghan--
You and I share the same dilemma. I cannot figure out where to go for our honeymoon. I also want a warm, tropical climate, adventure, beach time, and the trip of a lifetime, but I keep running into obstacles.
Hawaii--perfect but I've already been there Aruba--no interest Cabo San Lucas--was totally excited about this idea but it is the rainy season Belize--same problem as Cabo Australia--perfect but will be a bit chilly in certain areas in September The Greek Islands--still a possibility
Basically, the entire Caribbean is out due to hurricane season.
