Looking for Outdoor Reception Area

Looking for Outdoor Reception Area

Hi,

We just started looking at places last weekend for a 2011 Wedding and didn't realize how quickly dates are already filling up. I am trying to find a venue that could host an outdoor ceremony, and I love the tent idea overlooking a view. We fell in love with the Grandview in Poughkeepsie but it's over 2 hours away for most of our guests...

Trying to look at places on LI, and the surrounding areas. Any ideas??

It's really important for us to have a view either on a beach, river, lake. We also don't like the 'typical' catering hall look that's why we both fell in love with the tent at Grandview. It would be about 130 - 150 people.

I don't know where to make appointments for this upcoming weekend..

Thanks Everyone!!!!

I also really liked the Grandview, but we didn't look at it seriously for the same reason, its just too far away. That being said, we ended up at the Riviera in Massapequa. Its not a typical place and its right on the south bay. The CH area outside is beautiful. They don't have a tent, and the reception part is inside, but it is beautiful.
You can also check out the Naugles Barn at Hallockville Farm, they have a tent and a barn there, but no water view. If you want to go out east a little further, the Old Field Club is BEAUTIFUL and you can tent the patio. It was just a little too far for our guests coming from western nassau. HTH!

Im pretty sure Timber point Country club has this or Old field club has that outdoor ceremony and feel and not your typical hall. I have never been to either one but I have heard about them and they look really nice... Also

crescent beach club in bayville is right on the water!!

The wedding pavillion at the Snapper Inn. We seriously considered booking there because we also wanted an outdoor reception, but it just didn't work out. I heard there is also a pavillion at Sunken Meadow run by Lessings, but I didn't love the pics on the website. However it may be a lot nicer in person.

Good luck!

We were also looking for the same thing and actually booked at a B&B close to Poughkeepsie and are making a wedding weekend out of it.

Some places on the island I had considered were Old Field Club, The Snapper Inn, Smithtown Landing Country Club, Leonard's on the Bay, Orchard Hill at Old Westbury Gardens, Queen's Botanical Gardens, Trumpets at the Gate and The Bridgeview Yacht Club (you may really like the tented ceiling they have there).

westbury manor has an amazing outdoor area (with peacocks!!!!) we weren't fans of the rooms (no offense to anyone, we really wanted high ceilings and chandeliers) but we LOVED the outside and the CH area.

also, as some mentioned, lands end.. they are right on the water, and its gorgeous there.

terrace on the park- now that place is different. you are UP.. like HIGH up and the view is just.. WOW.

um... we didn't look at many beachy areas, because its not our style.

what about trump on the ocean ??? it hasn't opened yet, but i think they're booking.

We are getting married on Saturday at the Pavlillion at the Snapper Inn, I will let you know how it is in my review. It's reasonably priced.

I learned from my 'hunt' to not discredit anything by the pictures b/c some places had GREAT pics and they were NOTHING like them, and vice versa.

Re: Looking for Outdoor Reception Area

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the great information. Here's the list of what we're going to see on Saturday:

Bridegview Yacht Club
Crescent Beach Club
Waterview Club
Old Field Club
Snapper Inn

I'm trying to also squeeze in Riviera but I've emailed and called twice and no one picks up the phone...

Is there anything that I should specifically look out for or pay attention to at these places? Any other places we should see?

Thanks!!!

I think the Old Field Club will be cramped with 150 guests.

We reallllly wanted to have it there, but size was a concern.

Its gorgeous tho!

I would look at

Lands End
Timber Point Country Club
