Hey Everyone Just starting my search for a site for my wedding. I already realized that I want something a little different. Not just the same old catering hall. I was thinking something outdoors (at least for the ceremony), secluded, and romantic. anyone have any ideas? thanks alot!

I had an outdoor tent wedding in Hampton Bays...it was on the the water ...the ocean is right down the road...not at a typical hall..the place is a restaurant with some rooms in the main house...and cottages in the back as well...here's a link to my review with pics & more info...HTH!
I'm getting married at a vineyard. FM for details :)
Lots of Vineayrds on the North Fork are doing weddings now. Anything from RH like vineyards, to big open fields to put up a tent in, and everything in between.

We are having our reception at DeSeverskly Center/Mansion. It is the old Dupont family summer home. It is not a catering hall. One wedding at the time. It is secluded and it has beautiful grounds. You can even rent the upstairs room / bridal suite for the night. It is like an old fashioned hotel room. You can look at my album for extra photos.

Really enjoyed seeing your wedding review, Kathryn!!!! Debi had a beach themed wedding. She had leftover shells, that I was unfamiliar with. Thanks to your review, I see they are called capiz shells!! Mary MOB

I second the Royalton (obviously). How many people are you thinking you will have?

The Woodlands. It's on the Glen Cove Golf Course. Over 120 acres and has one wedding at a time. The interior is just as beautiful. It reminds me of DeSeversky a little bit. Good luck with your search.

How about having the ceremony and/or reception at a botanical garden?
Here are some to consider: Wave Hill (Riverdale, Bronx) New York Botanical Garden (Bronx) Queens Botanical Garden Queens Farm Museum Planting Fields (Oyster Bay) Vanderbilt Mansion (somewhere in Suffolk County)

we wanted the same thing, and i'm pretty positive that we're going with old field club. it's really beautiful and the food is fantastic! brooklyn botanical gardens is also nice, and the nassau museum of art is gorgeous! we would have done it there, but it was too expensive.

you should check out glen cove mansion. it's perfect for that sized wedding. i was planning on having my reception there, but it is too small for us. i am glad tho, because we found the woodlands and i love it even more.

old field holds up to 180 i think. nasssau county museum of art i believe is 130 per person for a sunday wedding in June, plus a $2500 site fee
