Looking for St. Patrick Cathedral brides! Advice wanted!
Hi everyone.
We just locked our date in and I'm now getting the heebie jeebies.
If there are any St. Patrick's Cathedral brides out there, can you share some tips or suggestions?
Was it strange having tourists at your wedding? Did you hire the organist? Were you nervous your party would look tiny in comparison to the cathedral?

Nope. I've seen a few weddings there. You have to stand behind the ropes though.

oh wow! we saw a wedding going on when we were walking past one day and I thought there were tourists there but I was like 'nah, they wouldn't actually keep it open to the public would they?'

is it true that they have a separate section for weddings they dont let you use the main part?
was there a huge fee for using that church ( you dont have to say how much) just wondering

Wow that's amazing that you're having your ceremony there! Obviously I'm not but just relax everything will be fine.

That is really cool that you booked St. Patrick's! Congrats!
I've never seen them close it for tourists though....I know that they have the old chapel, which is towards the front and more private. I knew someone whose daughter got married there and there really wasn't much tourist intervention.

St. Patrick's is gorgeous and huge!
No Catholic churches close for weddings. Ceremonies are open to anyone who would like to come and you're actually not allowed to turn people away (unless you are like royalty or someone super famous and get permission to do so). This is because weddings are a public confirmation of your sentiments and promise to be true to each other, etc.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! that is just wonderful! I do know that it won't be closed ...like it was mentioned before - thats part of marrying in any catholic church. the reason being that if someone wants to 'object' they can. it is going to be WONDERFUL!!!!!!!

Congratulations! What a gorgeous church! Did they give you a major list of restrictions for your photographers? Just curious. Some of the photographers I am talking to are comparing my church's restrictions to those at St. Patrick's! It will be beautiful, though, no matter what :) Good luck!
