I know I need a good sports bra and some running shoes so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Anyone that has any suggestions on a good plan to follow would be wonderful too.
Thanks

Asics, for me, are the best running sneakers I have ever used... I have a bad knee and these actually help!!! They are the best!!!!

I find it really depends on your foot. I have had great luck with my asics, new balance and reeboks.
For sports bras, I find the tighter the better. I am kinda big on top and if I am bouncing I an not comfortable running

My advice to you is to start running and walking (2-5 minutes at a time) and slowly build up to just running. If you just start running a bunch of miles all of a sudden, you will get injured.
Also, for motivation, sign up for races in Long Island or NYC. There are races every weekend in NYC. Don't worry either, people aren't competetive...it's a lot of fun! And it gives you a goal...so you won't slack off with running regularly.

Thanks girls! I bought a pair of Asics and some sports bras. I also bought a book on running for beginners which outlines the walk run theory. I can't wait for it to arrive!
Thanks again!
PS....That does sound like a good idea for short marathons as a fitness goal!
DO a 5K (3 miles) first...and see how you feel...if you think you would be up to it there are 2 10Ks that are my favorites...and I used to do every year when I lived on LI...
both are SO scenic and the townspeople come out and cheer you on and water you down to cool you off...
GOOD LUCK!!!

Ok I am a big fan of Nike Sports bras b/c they have ALOT of support I am a 34c and I don't move in them..... Sports Authority carries them they are not cheap but I have had mine for 3 years.... Sneakers is a personal thing but New Balance are wonderful. Runner Shop in Farmingdale let's you try them on and run outside to see how they fit. Also in Huntington there is a new balance outlet next to a running store... This is not the weather -14 to start but a treadmill would be good there are a lot of websites... Run walk run at first till you get proficent... It would be cool to all run a race together..
