Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows of any reputable dog breeders her on LI? My fiance and I are looking for a pure breed, but every time I do research on any puppy stores or breeders I keep hearing horror stories. If anyone could recommend anyone I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

I really like cairn terriers. Toto was a cairn. But i am flexible I need a smallish dog b/c I live in a 2 bedroom apt.
I like them but the fiance has his heart set on the Cairn. Thanks for the help.

If you go to the AKC website, they list information on registered breeders. You can check them out. From what I understand, good breeders will want to know as much about you as you want to know about them. Look for someone who is interested in your lifestyle. Also look for someone who is involved in showing her dogs and in breed clubs, these are signs of serious breeders -- not profit-seeking breeders. I have seen something posted on the internet about what to look for in a breeder; I will post it for you if I can find it.
Please, millions of dogs die every year b/c people go to breeders or pet stores rather than adopt.
1/4 of all dogs available for adoption are pure bred.
But, most humans would be dead if we only wanted purebreds! I know I'm no purebred. So, consider going to your local shelter and falling in love with a dog without 'papers', they will be truly grateful to be alive and you will feel better about it. Or,
