Loose Stools

Loose Stools

Caiden has had loose stools since last Monday. I called the Pediatrician and they said there have been A LOT of viruses going around, and you just have to wait it out. She first said to not give him any solid food for 24 hours. There is absolutely no way I can do that. My poor baby would be soooo hungry! Does anyone else have any ideas? I first thought that the milk that I introduced into his diet last week was the cause of it, but he started having loose stools last Monday, and I introduced milk on Thursday. I didn't think much of it since it was only a few at that time, but now it's everyday. He also refuses to drink anything like pedialyte. What can I do?

There are a few kids in his daycare that are sick with similiar symptoms. Maybe this Xmas break will be good for him.

I'm so sorry Caiden isn't feeling better, maybe he's run down from all of the illnesses he's been battling compliments of daycare? I think the time home will do him wonders and give him an opportunity to build his little self back up.

feel better Caiden

They have ice pops from Pedialyte that you can give him. All kids like ice pops I hope he feels better soon!

Re: Loose Stools

Rice helps to bind so you can give him a bit of that, NO banannas though- that can make it worse.

Did you increase the amount of milk on Sunday?

Ohhhh... I thought bananas helps bind you too?

I waited to increase the milk until yesterday.

yes, bananas are binding, use the BRAT diet, Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. My kids easily get constipated and half a banana usually binds them up for the day!

Also, try to give him a little bit of broth, it will be a bit salty and will help with his electrolytes and will give him the urge to drink.

If he is not vomiting with the diarehhea definitely follow the BRAT diet, try to avoid juices and try the pediolyte pops. I believe they also make them in lollypops too!
