I eat oatmeal every morning (not the microwave kind). I cut up fresh fruit and mix it in the oatmeal. I usually use apples or necterines ( a whole one). I feel great after eating that. I told a girlfriend of mine about it when she was trying to loose weight. She tried it and lost a lot by eating a healthier breakfast. It's quick too. About 5 minutes all together to make! :)

We also eat alot of fish and chicken breast. LOTS of veggies!! Especiall green ones! :)

I recomend Kashi oatmeal, light lunch and dinner and Kashi bar snack. They have a lot of protein to make you feel full and the right blend of fiber to keep things moving at the right pace for the nutrients to be absorbed. They seem higher in fat but its good fat. I also recomend sipping green tea (not diet) but no milk or sugar it adds unwanted fat and calories. use fake sugar if you need it. good luck hope this helps.

I try to avoid processed food. I mainly eat lean protein, fruit and veggies. Also I try to watch my servings so I don't over eat.

I don't know if you are exercising, but that helps too.

100 calories packs all the way. Also Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. I am sure you were talking about real food so...... Oatmeal, Turkey Pastrami on Rye bread. Dinner is always the hardest whole wheat pasta is actually really good or a rotisserie chicken with some veggies.

Cut out as many carbs as possible. I have a basic breakfast w/ cereal and juice (can subsitiutute cereal for yogurt!). For lunch, I eat a wrap(no carb wrap w/1 slice of cheese and 2 slices of meat) w/fruitm and then I have a dinner with meat and veggies. I did this for about 1 year and a 1/2, and I've maintained my weight, and I'm still continuing it now after the wedding.

Re: Loosing weight

portion control - eat only half the portions you normally eat at every meal

cardio - get on the elliptical machine and start working out, don't forget to put your fav. show on so time flies!

weights - careful on this as if you duild too much muscle mass you WILL wanna eat more as well as burn more calories. and muscle turns to fat after you decide NOT to workout anymore :(

cut down on bad carbs, simple sugar and fatty food!

No more bacon, white bread, ice cream, candy indulge only very rarely!

And all this free advice courtesy of gym bum and gal who works for a fitness firm. ;)

Re: Loosing weight

Eating breakfast definitely helps control hunger throughout the day - cereal or oatmeal are good options.

I snack during the day on fruit, jello, fat free yogurt, nuts . . . you can try a slim fast or weight watchers bar too

Stay away from anything with white flour!

Stick to whole grains, skinless chicken and turkey, lowfat and fat free dairy. Try to curb snaking and if you must , eat some fresh fruit with a bit of protein like an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter or some almonds and a little bit of cheese.

You have to excercise too! Cardio and weight lifting are the best because you will burn fat and build musicle which will help you burn more fat.

Good luck

The way that I lost my weight was:

I started working out
I cut out white carbs (bread, pasta, rice, etc.)
I don't eat anything after 9:00pm
I eat a lot of raw veggies
I eat breakfast (something I never did before)

Good Luck!!!!!

Re: Loosing weight

Muscle does NOT turn to fat if you stop working out. Muscle and fat are two completely different kinds of tissue and it's impossible for one to become the other. Muscle will lose tone if you stop using those muscles, which can give a flabby appearance... Also, you will gain fat if you don't adjust your diet after stopping working out.

Muscle tissue takes more calories per day to stay alive... so if you're really buiding muscle, you will feel hungrier -- but you'll also be burning more calories every day. Make sure you take in enough protein if you're doing weights, too... and don't overdo it so you get sore!

Make sure you eat small meals, frequently throughout the day. This helps stop cravings and also boosts your metabolism. This is also the hardest thing for me, as I have to really plan in advance b/c I work long hours.

I completely agree about the oatmeal. I do almost the same exact thing...I use the old-fashioned oatmeal on the stove, then sometimes I'll mash in a banana (good to get some more fruit in my diet!) or will stir in one of the small applesauce cups (I buy the Walbaum's store brand no sugar added applesauce cups). This really comes out so good, and so very filling!!
