Losing Weight - Dress Question

Losing Weight - Dress Question

Hey guys,

I'm a bit nervous about my dress that I placed the order for a few weeks ago. I have been losing a lot of weight, and I ordered the dress in the size I fit at that time, but I've already lost weight even since then, and I expect to keep losing a bunch more! I'm worried that by the time I get the dress next year it will be huge and it will be crazy to take it in so much. Anybody else having this problem? Should I ask them to remeasure me and change the order (which I asked and they already sent in to the designer)? I'm not sure exactly what to do.

Hi I am had the same issue when ordering my dress I told them I will be losing about 30-40lbs before my wedding and she told me not to worry and they would alter it however it needed to be done.....my main concern was that the dress still look the same after all the alterations and she assured me everything will be fine. I am still a little nervous but I trust her

also she told me that every 10lbs drops one dress size dont know if that helps at all

I wouldnt worry about it at all, If you really think you went down a dress size ask them to measure you again and it might be early enough to order a smaller size but if not I'm sure they can do whatever alterations need to be done. I wouldnt worry about it
Congrats on the weight loss

salons usually push to order gowns a size or 2 UP from your measurements as a just in case, so they're used to doing alterations like that. it's a lot worse if it's too small--this happened to a friend of mine--because then you either have to squeeze or special order panels to add to the dress. no worries

i would say leave it alone...Since they have to take the dress in ....what's the difference if they take in a little or a lot, they still have to make alterations.

Keep up the good work w/ the weight loss.

I also ordered my dress big, and Im in the process of losing more weight. Im not worried because a dress can always be taken in and not let out. I rather it that way. It'll be fine.

I was worried about the same thing but everyone told me better big than too small. They said they will take it in without any problems!

Don't worry yourself about the weight loss. The salons will normally tell you that it's better to lose than to gain.

ahh very good to know. I know I am starting to workout and eat better and would like to lose the extra 30lbs I have gained since being with FH.

I told the seamstress this and she said do not worry especially with a corset back dress (that since the corset takes your shape it can be pulled tighter if you lose some weight, only part by the bust may have to be adjusted)

Anyone else know if this is true? I hope so...

Thanks everyone! I have just been worried about it not looking the same when they take it in cause its more fitted (not an a-line or poofy). But your advice helped a lot - I'm just going to keep losing it and have no fear!
