So, i am probably the MOST lazy person in the whole world- with that being said-is it possible to lose a few pounds just by changing my eating habits and not working out?? If yes, what foods should I avoid, what foods are good to eat? TIA!!!

im right up there with you..and while i do eat healthy food, i also eat a ton of junk food, and i drink WAY too much soda..i think if you focus on eating lots of veggies and lean foods you could lose a few...

Dieting does play a role in losing weight, but you won't tone up without weight training. Drink lots of water and cut out snacking. Maybe try walking during your lunch break.

Re: Losing Weight /Toning up
I gave up soda and most sugary drinks once in college and I lost a few pounds there. Just ingest water pretty much as your liquids for the day. The only think I allowed myself to have was like freshly squeezed oj or juice that my mom made out of our juicer. Also, if you try to refrain from junk foods and plates filled with carbs you will drop weight too. When I want to lose a few pounds I eat direct serving sizes of stuff. If you go online to find serving sizes you can go by that. If a bag of chips says serving size 10 chips = 25g of fat calories of something then I will cut the serving size in half if I am really craving it or I will cut it out completely. Eating rice cakes is a good idea for a snack and another great snack is AKMAK crackersand boiled eggs, unbuttered popcorn (with salt), I've even used the Akmak crackers in place of bread with some tunafish on it and that was really yummy. Also, haha this is loong, I eat high protein things like chic peas ground up or hummus on bread. Try Ezkiel bread instead of bread made with flour, that will DEF helf since white flour turns into sugar in the body and that will turn into extra calories that you don't need. Hope this helps!

Yes! If you have weight to loose you can loose it by changing your eating habits - I find the best way is to eat 6 small meals a day or try to keep your calorie count from 1200-1500 calories per day.

YES! The key to losing weight is changing your eating habits / portion control. I lost most of my 46 pounds without exercise.
HOWEVER.....you won't tone up without exercise.
Basically, to lose weight AND tone, you need to do both. But to just lose weight, you only need to change your eating habits.

Re: Losing Weight /Toning up
I lost about 10 lbs in 6-7 weeks by eating:
Low Sugar Quaker Oatmeal for breakfast Salad with Non-fat Kraft Italian dressing and a fruit (usually a peach or apple) for lunch Grilled chicken, hamburger w/o a bun, or eggplant parm for dinner.
I also snacked with those 100 calorie snacks (chips ahoy, oreos, animal crackers, etc) and I avoided bread, soda and things with alot of sugar.

Diet is 90% of the equation...though personally I dont think muscle tone will really happen wihtout weight training, it is entirely possible to lose weight wtih diet alone!

ITA!! of course you can lose weight if you eat less calories than you use.. but without exercise you can't tone up!

Re: Losing Weight /Toning up
Definately by changing your eating habits you will slowly start to see the pounds coming off...It wont seem like alot at first, but it adds up. Try to stick to healthier options (water over soda/alcohol, veggies over chips etc...) Also, I found that once I started to limit the amount of meat I was eating, I did lose the belly bulge and bloat, and I started to get a bit more energy than normal...Not saying you should stop eating meat or start limiting your diet totally, just saying I noticed cutting down on junk and meat have really helped me...
To tone, definately try to excercise...eating is just one piece to the puzzle...If you have a hard time starting an excercise routine, just start small...Maybe some pushups or crunches when your home, maybe try some yoga or pilates...ease into it if its too hard...

Re: Losing Weight /Toning up
Drink plenty of water no soda, watch your calories, carbs & dietary fiber. Dont eat after a certain time at night and even if your not a gym nut, just do some cardio which can be done at home.

Drink lots of water! Trying to cut out sodas and sugary drinks will help. And you will have healthier skin and its impt to drink more water in the summer.
Try going for a walk, or even doing pilates for 10 min a day. They have videos that target specific areas of your body, so you can tone one area a day.
I agree with all the girls above, that you need a combination in order to get toned.

I agree, eat 6 smaller meals a day instead of 3 big meals. Also try to make lunch ur biggest meal of the day since that's the time ur burning the most energy.

Re: Losing Weight /Toning up
i agree, eat 6 times a day. small meals. maybe your biggest one at lunch. stay away from a big dinner. and eating past a certain time- like 8. cut out sugary drinks, only drink water- train yourself to want only water. (all i drink is water and i CANT drink anything sugary- its sooooo sweet to me) cut out cheese..... the six times a day should be a small breakfast within an hour of waking. also when you wake up, down a glass of water (jump starts your metabolism). eat a small snack 2 hours before lunch. eat a small snack 2 hours before dinner. and then a small snack after dinner. (snacking isnt chips lol, eat oatmeal, almonds and raisins, peanut butter and apples, yogurt etc.) (timing doesnt have to be exact)
if you cut out certain things that you eat all the time that are bad for you, you can loose weight.
you def wont tone up though. need to weight train, or do some sort of exercise
im lazyyyyyyyyyyy tooooooooo, so i have the same problem!!!

Re: Losing Weight /Toning up
Haha I am the exact same way. I'll do anything and everything except exercising. I find that when I am NOT trying to lose wight, is when the weight comes off.
I highly agree with what everyone is saying about giving up soda. It's not that hard and it will make you lose about 5 pounds. FH used to drink like 2L a day and he stopped and lost 7 pounds and kept it off.

Re: Losing Weight /Toning up
Welllllllllll, eating habits are major contributors to weight loss. But don't expect to lose a ton of weight if you don't do some form of moving. My suggestion is to cut out soda, white refined sugar and breads, and fill up your plate with plenty of veggies and fruits. And walk for 30 min. Or clean the house. Go dancing.
As for the best foods heres a brief list of foods that I think help:
Berries Fish (Salmon) Green Tea Leafy veggies like brocolli rabe, bok choy, swiss chard, spinach etc Almonds and Walnuts Yogurt ( only the Faya yogurt, no sweetners) Soy or Rice milk
