Lost my diamond!

I can't believe it! I always read other girls posts about how they lost a diamond, FI/DH lost ring, etc. and although I sympathised with them, I always thought, 'That will never happen to me!'

Well, it did today! I'm having a really bad day (see dog post too) and it just doesn;t stop!

I went food shopping today and on the way back I caught a glimps of my ring sparkling in the sun. I looked at it (my DH cleaned it yesterday for me) and admired how pretty it was. When I got home, I went to open up the shades in the living room and my hand knocked against the wall, but not to hard. THat's when I saw something fly to the floor, but I thought it was part of the spackle we just had done. Then I noticed a big gaping hole in my ring and saw that a diamond came loose! I am sick to my stomach. I looked everywhere with the help of my neighbors. Nothing!

When my DH got home, all he said was 'oh well, we'll just get another one!' Yes, I understand that we can (FIL is a jewler so the $ and hastle of it is no problem) but it is so sentimental to me! My DH had gone into the city with my FIL and hand selected each diamond. It's a princess cut diamond and was invisible set into the side. There are 10 princess cut diamonds on each side of my center stone. I can't wear it (not that I want to right now) b/c my other diamonds might also fall out since it is invisible set and there's not much holding it in place.

Anyway, please keep your fingers crossed for me!

THe good thing is that you know the diamond is in your house somewhere, right? I assuming that 'piece of spackle' was your diamond.

Just get on your hands and knees and don't give up. I lost my 3 channel set eternitywedding bands (and we're not even married yet) in the snow when I was playing with my dogs.

FI and I looked all night, and we found them buried, far from the spot I thought I lost it.

I know how you feel.
I lost one of the diamonds from my wedding band at a concert, and I was devastated. I hope yours turns up, if for nothing but the sentimental value!

on a good note you know it is in your house. Keep looking - it is bound to show up sometime. I absolutely understand the sentimentality of it. At least your DH was VERY understanding. Keep us posted

Well, still haven't found it. The other problem is that our house is under major remodeling and there are tings everywhere! I think I'm just going to give it to my FIL and have it replaced. Hey, you never know, after I have it replaced, I just may find the stone and have 2!
