My FH and I have 7 parents between the 2 of us because our parents are divorced and 3 are remarried.
We are worried about speeches at the wedding. We want to give everyone the opportunity but we also don't want to kill the party with too much talking!
Has anyone had to figure something like this out?
HELP!!!!!

Re: Lots of Parents - How do I manage speeches?
let them give their speeches at the rehearsal dinner? None of our parents really wanted to say anything. They left it all up to the BM and MOH. Thats usually the way its done in my family.

Re: Lots of Parents - How do I manage speeches?
Typically parents give their speeches at the rehersal dinner. That's way too many speeches for your wedding day, it would take like an hour for all those people to talk! But it's your day, it's pretty much up to you, and I'm sure if you just ask them to do it at the rehersal it'll be ok - they're your parents.

Beware of too many speeches at your wedding. One of the last weddings I went to there were a bunch of impromptu speeches from family members and then all the dinners that were served were cold. The BM blamed it on the speeches taking too long/waiting to serve dinner until each person was done.

The BM and possibly MOH will be the only ones speaking at our wedding. It's possible my father will do a blessing or something, too.
Other than that, I'm having all other toasts / speeches at the RD.

Thanks girls!
I think using the RD as the 'parental venue' is perfect
MOH and BM can speak at the wedding and FH and I can thank everyone - briefly!
