Has anyone read this book or seen the movie? I'm reading it now. Am I the only one who finds this less of a romantic story and more like the story of an obsessed stalker?

Yes, I'd recommend it. Its beautifully written and I'm enjoying it. Its just that on Amazon everyone raves about what a beautiful love story it is and I'm just like, huh? Not to give anything away....

I've read it in Spanish. It's a great story written by a renowned writer. He's one of the best in Latin America. I wonder if its lost its meaning in English.

Re: Love In The Time Of Cholera
I read it a few years ago, and absolutely loved it. It's one of the few books that actually made my cry. It's definitely not light reading, but it's a beautiful story. And yes, the main character can be creepy at times, but it doesn't take away from the story - if anything I think it adds to it. I don't remember everything though as I did read it a long time ago. There is a movie, but I'll skip out on it - I don't think it's one of those books that will translate well to the big screen, JMO.

Maybe its just me then... they barely had a relationship when they were teenagers, and he's dedicated 50 years of his life to waiting until her husband dies...I'm finding it a bit disturbing. Guess I'm just not a 'romantic'

HA, no Gabriel Garcia's books are difficult to read too, they're very twisted which is probably what you're talking about.

i read the first few pages and put it away....now i'm reading 'Naked.' I'll probably eventually go back to it but i at least agree that it has a slow start.
