low lying placenta

low lying placenta

I had my doctor appointment tonight for my one hour glucose screening test. The orange drink is not bad at all! It tasted like flat orange soda - no biggie. I didn't have to fast, I drank the drink at home, and went to my appointment and had my blood drawn. I find out those result in a few days. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

The other thing I found out tonight was that I have a low lying placenta (LLP). The doctor just made me aware, but said he wasn't really concerned. I have to have another level 2 sono at 32 weeks (I am 25 weeks now). He did say if it turns out to be placenta previa, we would have a little more worries.

Even so, I am still a little nervous. I searched an old post and found many of you recent mommies also had the LLP during your pregnancies - JennRenee, Stacey, IrishTracy, kptoys, bearsbabe, etc. The post was way back when and you ladies hadn't been anywhere near birth.

Can you ladies who had a LLP give me some insight on whether yours moved, did you deliver early, have a c-section, etc. Although my doc said not to worry, i still do!

Thanks

I don't know about the LLP, but my fingers are crossed for you.

Re: low lying placenta

I was told that I had LLP & then like a week or 2 later. The doctor said it was fine.
I think that's why they said not to worry about it!
Try not to stress!!

Re: low lying placenta

Trish One of my best friends had placenta previa and she had a scheduled c-section a couple of weeks early. Everything else about her pregnancy was letter perfect and Mommy and baby are doing wonderfully now...so NO WORRIES!

I know in the case of JennRenee and Debbie, the placenta migrated well before they both went into labor. Try not to worry too much over this b/c there is nothing you can do to control it. Hopefully, the placenta will migrate in a couple weeks and by the time they do the next sono, the doc will have great news for you!

Re: low lying placenta

I had a LLP at 20 weeks. I had a second sono at 32 weeks and the placenta was 2.5CM(or way far away according to my doc.) from my cervix. Everything on that from was ok because my uterus grew enough and moved the placenta out of the way.

Wound up having a c-section for different reasons though.

If your doc. isnt worried then I wouldnt worry either. When I freaked out my doc. said that a HUGE percentage of the time they move up.

Re: low lying placenta

my good friend had a LLP and she was not allowed to exercise at all...

by the third trimester it was fine...she had natural birth 1 day before her due date (they were going to induce her on her due date...but only b/c she is very petite - not even 5' - bu she went without it)

Re: low lying placenta

Mine moved somewhere between weeks 25 and 30.

Don't be nervous... I've read that most LLP's move into place with a first pregnancy. It's subsequent pregnancies that may be more troublesome.

Mine moved also.

Try not to worry. I know that is easier said than done. I did end up having a c-section anyway. The worst case scenario is you would have a scheduled c-section. Hopefully you won't have to worry about that after your next sonogram

I agree with what all the other ladies said. There really is nothing you can do at this point except wait it out- but I know telling you not to worry is unrealistic, how could you not? That is what we do best...

Just take good care of yourself and remember that your little one will be healthy and happy wheter your placenta moves or not. Keep us posted.

Re: low lying placenta

Thank you - it means a lot to know that things turned out well for all you ladies..... I feel like my belly drew 5 inches out in the past week, so hopefully since they saw it last at 20 weeks and when I go at 32 weeks it will have moved!

you guys (ladies!) are the best!
