Just got my blood results back and my progesterone level is low, and not as high as they want it to be. I am having medication being delivered tonight, between 7-10 pm. They are suppositories. Then I go next week for a preggo test.
Anyone have this problem??

Re: Low Progesterone.....
A friend of mine is going thru this right now. She took a shot just before her IUI to get her to surge - She went on Tuesday to check her progesterone level and it was ok. 27.7 ng/ml. I do know that if it was low that her dr. would have given her progesterone to bring the level up.
GOOD LUCK!! Lots of baby dust to you!!!
ETA - She goes on Tuesday for her prego test.

Diane- The only thing I know about Prog. suppositories is that if you are charting..that it will send your temps ups so you should probably stop taking them. I will ask around my other board and see what I can find out.

Re: Low Progesterone.....
well, I have to take them, because I go for a preggo test next week, and if I am (which I know I wont) then I need this preogesterone to maintain a healthy pregnancy. I did read that rising temps can be a side effect.

Re: Low Progesterone.....
Just an article that my girlfriend showed me... thought you might like to read it. _____________________________________
Progesterone Levels During Pregnancy What is progesterone? Progesterone is a hormone produced by the ovaries that helps prepare the uterus for pregnancy. It is first produced by the corpus luteum in the ovaries and later is maintained by the placenta.
What does progesterone do? Helps to regulate the menstrual cycle. Prepares the lining of the uterus for implantation. Keeps the lining of the uterus thick which is necessary for a successful pregnancy. Produces a rise in temperature after ovulation, which remains until menstruation occurs. Creates a nutrient rich environment for the baby by increasing glycogen and arterial blood to the lining of the uterus. Keeps the uterus from having contractions. Causes the cervix to thicken and create a mucous plug which prevents bacteria from entering the uterus. What are normal progesterone levels? Progesterone during menstrual cycle
Day 1-14 >1 to 1.5 ng/ml
Day 15-28 2-28 ng/ml
Progesterone during pregnancy
First Trimester 9-47 ng/ml
Second Trimester 17-147 ng/ml
Third Trimester 55-200 ng/ml
Sometimes doctors will check a woman's progesterone level during pregnancy. Most doctors like to see a minimum level of 10 ng/ml during the first few weeks of pregnancy. If a woman has low progesterone levels this can be an indication of a threatened miscarriage. If you are concerned about your progesterone level talk to your doctor for more information.

ETA: In the luteal phase, a progesterone level >10 ng/ml is normal. Some people make the level slightly higher (12 ng/ml) when using clomiphene. In early pregnancy, the level is expected to be above 15 ng/ml. There is no upper limit on progesterone. The level is higher with multiple pregnancy, it rises progressively as the placenta grows, and near the end of pregnancy, 250 mg/day is being produced.
Progesterone is not a pregnancy test. Progesterone is produced both during the menstrual cycle and during pregnancy. The level of progesterone, when above 15 ng/ml, is associated with a normal pregnancy but it does not assure normality.

Re: Low Progesterone.....
No worries - I have been on it for 2 weeks. I am currently 6 weeks and my level was low also. My doctor said as long as my HCG level continues to rise, I should be fine. He recommended staying on it until I was into my second tri-mester just as a percaution. My first post on this board- I have been a HUGE lurker Good luck to you!
