No, but the thought has crossed my mind!
My FH and I have lived together for 2years and he won't get health insurance until we're married. Plus, my grandfather is ill, and we're not sure he'll make it until Aug. 07. We won't do it, but I def. see the benefits.

Not yet... But I have been having trouble with my Health insurance and have discussed doing the whole justice of the peace thing...

But I keep postponing it... I think when I get fed up enough of the customer service phone calls with my insuarnce company then I will do it.

Just the other day they are charged me $300 bucks for a gyno appt b/c they billed it incorrectly so my insurance company and now they won't accept it and pay the bil... WHAT??? thats not my problem... Anywho... things could be worse ya know.

Does his Insurance have Domestic Partner coverage? I think you have to be living together for 6-months and show 3 forms of proof.
I added my FH to my Insurance that way

No, but I used to and a company like that should defiantly offer it. I would tell him to contact his HR person and ask about it. You usually have to wait until an open enrollment period & that depends on his company. I showed a phone bill, a joint bank account and joint credit card and all you have to do is sign an affidavit and get it notarized and you are GOLDEN!!!

You can wait!

It will work, if they have it and I am sure a company like that does. It is so easy and I literally signed up for a joint bank account and credit card 2-days before handing the paperwork in and they accepted it.

Good luck and let me know if you need anything

hello. I also was married by a justice of the peace, my husband and i are celebrating our wedding this july, complete with the renewing of our vows.

We did his partly for the heath insurance, we were planning on getting married anyways but figured that the health insurance for me would be a plus.

i highly recommend doing this. it has eased me into the transition of being a wife. so when July 3rd comes we can celebrate our wedding with friends and family comforably!

i hope this helps!

It was probably one of the easiest things I have ever done. First, check with FH Insurance or yours if you are adding him to see if they offer it. Then in the handbook, it should state the requirements, mine was have to be living together for 6 consecutive months and have 3 forms of proof of financial responsibilities together (They will have a list of what they consider 'acceptable' proof. Then FH and I had to sign an affidavit and got it notarized, sent it in and DONE!

If either of you work for a company with a reputable health plan, they should offer it.

Let me know if you have any questions

We were engaged for 3 years, just didnt have the money for a big wedding, and we now have a 4yr old, we were moving down to Fl and i needed the heath insur. , so we got married by the justice of the peace, we knew we were going to have a big wedding in 2007, and it was just a piece of paper legaliazing us anyway, cause we had everything anyway, the kid the house, lived together so it is worth it, just wondering what everyone that has done this is going to do for your wedding anything different?
